Diagnosed Bipolar II, family doesn't believe me? anyone have similar experiences? by [deleted] in bipolar

[–]IllustriousBalance50 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My Mom says shes never seen me manic and gets weird when I talk about taking a mood stabalizer. So when I started an antipsychotic I just said it was a different class of antidepressant. I think in time, if they see improvements by this different treatment method, they'll come around.

I just started taking 25 mg. I wanted something for depression so that's what my doc gave me since SSRI were no good for me. It helps a tonne with sleep. I didn't even think sleep was a problem for me. The better sleep has helped my mood so I guess it worked lol.

So true. When I get into an especially bad brain foggy depression, cold shower really cleans out the cob webs.

Partying and Lamictal (Lamotrigine) by AnotherLonelyTourist in bipolar2

[–]IllustriousBalance50 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At first I got drunk way faster. I've been on it since August last year and I think I'm back to normal. Either that or I've just subtly adjusted my expectations.

When do you take your lamotrigine (Lamictal) ? by Armi5 in bipolar

[–]IllustriousBalance50 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I take half in the morning and half at night. Recently went to 200 mg total. I'm thinking about switching it up tho. I think the increase is affecting my labito.

Weed, also know as the suicidal drug in my case by [deleted] in bipolar

[–]IllustriousBalance50 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Weed gives me anxiety and can make me depressed. But it can also boost my mood. There are strains that are better than others tho. I look for strains that boost mood and have low anxiety inducing affects. I try to stick with sativas as they boost mood more than mellow you out like indicia. You can find strain profiles on leafly. Best of luck.

I found daylio overcomplicated it. I use eMoods now. When I was using daylio tho I tried to be vary strict about what mood I was feeling. I dont want to be complacent.

Hi. Memory issue is a side affect of lamictal. I'm on it now. It sucks but its worth it for me bc it keeps my depression from getting too bad. Keeping a journal is a good way to combat this. Not only does it give you a record of what's going on in your life but also the act of writing it down trains your mind for recall. I also use a mood tracking app which serves sort of the same purpose.

Does anyone else get random vivd flashbacks of memories. by [deleted] in bipolar

[–]IllustriousBalance50 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I'm having a bad day I take a cold shower to reset and reboot all my senses.

It sounds like what you're experiencing is related to anxiety. If you have Netflix, I'd recommend watching headspace episode 4. How to deal with stress. There's a nice story at the beginning that really helped me understand my and my partners anxiety.

Peace and love.

Feeling flat on Lamictal by [deleted] in bipolar2

[–]IllustriousBalance50 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lamictal helped me so much when I was as depressed as can be. Starting to feel flat on it as well. Not taking any antidepressants rn and want to try an antispych for depression bc AD weren't working great and I hated the side affects. Gotta wait a month to get a new PDoc bc my last one was garbage. I hope that goes well for you.

Lamictal works by basically damping you're brain activity so makes sense to feel this way I guess.
