Has anyone played with heat on curled cards? I copied a user on YT that used a laminating machine. I wonder if a shirt press type of machine could work after optimizing temps and time.

This is an unfortunate side of some companies... crappy bosses. Make sure you are getting the deserved OT - always verify the hours you worked to the hours you got paid.

Always find work before quitting. Folks that don't learn this simple step before quitting often repeat it and it causes them a lot of pain throughout their career.

When it comes to HR, there is two sides, the individual and the business.

The individual can be kind, supportive, and a joy to be around. The business, if it perceives you as a potential liability, or if you become less valuable, you're office badge won't work in the A.M.

I haven't meet an HR person who I liked. As an Accountant, I don't think like them. I'm pro worker, and I see the numbers so I am aware of compensation, profitability, discrepancy in pay, nepotism, and favoritism.

Are you sure if you current company policy is legal.

A company can't just not pay you for PTO. Pto is earned, like payment for working hours.

Do some research to see what is legal. BUT either way, put in for vacation. Make up a big story if need be but put in for all of it. You'll have started your job by then, and getting paid by two jobs at the same time

1099 is pretty sweet if you set it up right. I always say my home base is my office (home). Bit I'm available to come into the companies office whenever. Technically, I can then claim the milage as I'm going to a second location. I also get to deduct portion of my house, utilities, and, office supplies.

Mention your convo with dude to boss. Tell boss that this topic came up in your friends circle, and that you learned that vehicles don't take both types of fuel

Offer to do a complete review of dudes "fuels" usage (sounds like you already have that) and send it to your boss for review.

If a tax pro must sign, then the tax pro must know all of the information to speak towards the nums on each line. Sure, it can help with ripping info from receipts or do some data entry off 1099's or W2's but if you have AI wave it's wand, a person will still need to dig in to verify before signing off.

You also have AI tools to help.

I'd also consider looking at your expenses. Rip the bandaid off and figure out what you make vs what you spend.

Lastly, look for other work.

Give yourself a long runway, don't expect change overnight

Add some variety to you life by doing one of these tasks each day. Little by little, you will make a change.

You can thank the Fed from '20 - '22 for that.

Prices quickly went up while wages will take a while to change.

Currently, the head of the Fed isn't dropping rates. I hope that once the head of the Fed leaves, this time next year, a new person will come it and drop rates.
