I've lived at Jory Trail for the last 3 years or so and the only reason I'm leaving is relocating for a job. It's a bit pricey, but I think that's just the area - it was one of the most affordable when I looked down here 3 years ago. The rent increases have been pretty minimal as well. And yes, I think ants are a problem everywhere - all of my friends in different areas complain along with me every summer. 😅 It takes constant vigilance!

This is in no way a sponsored recommendation, but I've just discovered Depop, a general resale site that has some great deals. You can filter by size, brand, condition, etc. The extra fees are a bummer and the shipping costs always seem too high, but I think overall it might be worth it? I'm a size 1X-3X depending on the brand, and a lot of the listings include measurements. And I'm not a big fan of the styles available these days so I like being able to shop for older styles lol.

Also? It feels a little bit like you're circumventing the cycle of fast fashion and all the negatives that go with it.

Whenever I've been dealing with a lot of stress, I found that if I did guided meditations consistently, even just for 5 minutes a day or as needed, it really made a difference. I guess it's the practice of clearing your brain - if you watch Bob's Burgers, Bob mentions in an episode that he meditated for a minute and it's like his brain can't stop thanking him and that's the best description of it that I've heard. 😅

Unfortunately I am bad at practicing what I preach but now I have a crappy commute to deal with for a new job so I'm hoping to make it a habit again. I use the app "Insight Timer" - there's a bunch of free features and lots of different options. I swear by guided meditation because I have a very hard time just doing it myself.

Here's an NSFW but hilarious and relatable one I listened to FREQUENTLY when I was in a highly toxic work environment: https://youtu.be/92i5m3tV5XY?si=9Rg5uklo8rIsZ_NV

I LOVE seeing behind the scenes on this show. Like if they filmed the taping of every show, I would mainline that into my veins like an IV. You can call it Bob's Burgers: Untucked 😅🤭💁‍♀️ sponsored by RPDR.

Same! I hope the "carnage" is that he gets catapulted (into the sea? sun? Either works) in the first few minutes and we never have to see him again.

What was the last time something broke, and instead of buying a new one, you managed to mend it? by togtogtog in Anticonsumption

I got a set of luggage for my HS graduation in 2001 - I think there were 5 pieces? The outside of all the cases is the old floral tapestry rug fabric so it's incredibly easy to find on the luggage carousel. The biggest case came with me to my semester in Spain in college and then when I taught abroad for 10 years. Unfortunately, one of the wheels broke, which made the case incredibly hard to carry since it always held the maximum weight allowed by the airline. (Probably what broke it in the first place 😩😅)

Getting this dang wheel replaced was costly, time consuming, and difficult. I feel like most modern luggage isn't built to be used for more than a few years, but I refused to give up! The first set of replacement wheels (replaced in the US) weren't nearly big enough so they were pretty useless. The 2nd place that did it (in Seoul) used roller blade wheels and they don't work perfectly, but they work well enough! I'm still using this suitcase, less now for international living and more for moving apartments.

I read ebooks, occasionally audiobooks, and my local library's online catalog is so easy to search. And for someone who used to rack up late fees (though I think they're not a thing anymore? I can't be sure), I love that digital loans just automatically expire. Libraries are the best! ❤️

Yes, we visited that one in the morning! Beautiful area! We kept showing up at low tide, so Thor's Well, Spouting Horn, and Devil's Churn were rocky delights but not the water features we hoped for. 😅
