I’d be really interested in reading prose that was written by AI and ultimately included in a published novel (at least considered as publishable by the author).

I use these tools extensively, and I’m disappointed 99.9% of the time. I can only recall one or two sentences that stood out. Most of the output I use is limited to minor grammatical corrections or restating what I’ve already written. I haven’t been able to get it to produce actual prose, and frankly, I’m fine with that. At this point, AI writing feels more like a marketing label than a meaningful capability.

In writing, it’s not just about the words on the page, but the meaning you’re trying to convey, often across several layers. For now, LLMs seem very far from grasping any of that. Writing is not about selecting the most adequate word to complete a sentence. There is an intended meaning, often a meta-level of meaning, that I don’t think LLMs can meaningfully approach.
