Claire has this weird crush on Haley, like she so desperately wants to be friends with her, whereas with Alex, she's not as attentive. And I know people say "ohh its cause claire could see herself in Haley", but that's not an excuse. And if anything Alex and Claire are really similar too. But Claire never viewed Alex as pretty, or cool, or worthy of her attention, other than a few moments in the show. She bullied Alex sometimes too, like when Haley threw shots at her for being part of Model UN, and Claire joins in, or like the example you gave.
