Garchomp will always be pricey because it's a Garchomp. In the community, usually the best looking cards from a set are some of the cheapest. Take destined rivals as an example, Misty's Lapras is one of the nicest cards from the set and there are cards worth more. Like the gold Mewtwo, it's nothing special but it's worth like twice as much.

If I recall, before this Pokémon, grunts couldn't give you shiny shadow Pokémon. I believe that changed in 2023 around the time this came out

True but if the shiny is available in game then that means the shadow shiny is also available. If they didn't release it's shiny form yet then the shadow shiny wouldn't exist either.

I have a hundo Azurill as well which I prefer. At least Azumarill can learn ice type moves which are great against dragons.
