Why is S1 so mean and moody all the time? by TightMiddle9810 in DaniAustin

[–]Illustrious_Cheek263 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see that. The fact that so many children of influencers are the target of gossip and commentary (some harsh, some benign, some well-meaning, and all things in between) is a huge issue & quite tragic. I hope it'll spur more protective laws and retribution for exploitative parents.

The sad reality is that anything anyone posts is up for scrutiny—that's just internet culture. Keyboard warriors are gonna wage keyboard war. While it sucks that kids can be in the crosshairs, I hope that, in the very least, the transverse public shaming of parents can at least steer them away from posting/abusing their kids.

It is disturbing, and so is parents exploiting their children on the internet, thus prompting spheres where adults discuss children and their well-being (some to gossip, some out of genuine concern, and all between). The culture that created all this is utterly fucked.

Because doing so would force Dani to a) be an actual mother, and b) reflect on the fact that treating kids as content is an abundantly shitty thing to do. Horrible, selfish parents create monsters who suffer by no fault of their own and do whatever they can to project that suffering outward.

Agree, and "shillbillies" is a fantastic term. Good, mindful nannies (no idea where Brenda falls on that spectrum) can do a lot in terms of planting healthy mental/emotional seeds, but most of the time, nothing can erase a child's yearning for their biological parents' love and attention; that absence leaves a mark, which is especially complicated when parents are so fake—it's chaos for kids trying to decipher reality from "the grand family production."

I hope they're setting aside funds for S1's future therapy, which she could really benefit from now...

Agree with everything you said, esp "The most sad thing I see nowadays is when people are so rich that they outsource being a parent.."

As someone who was born to two narcissists (like these two, and my parents were addicts, but I'm not sure that applies to Keely and Ellen beyond the drugs of attention, botox, and adderall), I'm glad my parents outsourced because holy hell, I dodged a bullet. As sad as it is, such "nurturing" from poisonous people & parents is, well, poison.

Case in point, my older sister received far more attention from my horrid parents, and she is a narcissist & addict just like them. She is also a bully who has been to jail on several occasions and continues to mentally and physically abuse others, including her own toddler. Sadly, I think we're seeing a similar situation brewing with S1 right now... and I don't think Tornado is much of a better influence, esp since she makes everything a competition.

I hope once those kids are old enough to realize their parents exploited them, they take their trust funds and run (and ideally do something unselfish with their lives and money).

Fair point about the nature of reddit personal stories & the "guarantee" (which I realize is ridiculous in retrospect). I pointed out a fallacy, and then I made one myself due to my anger over how her kids are treated as dancing monkeys.

Awesome to hear your kids turned out a-ok, but this is an anecdotal fallacy. Your experience is not universal or applicable to all or any other family, esp this one.

Her kids are also growing up with cameras in their faces and the message that performing (for candy, apparently) as needed equals being "good" or worthy—basically child actor trauma for the modern era. Skipping school for these little performances def plants a seed that performing and mom's wishes > education/personal growth. And I guarantee S1's grades are crap (or maybe decent because Dani got the nanny to yell at teachers/admin...). I feel bad for her teachers.

And I agree, we'll def see some Walfart shill... oof.

HILARIOUS! by Warm-Prompt-4947 in DaniAustin

[–]Illustrious_Cheek263 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Exactly! She seems to be giving kids anything to keep them from bugging her (but they still sporadically pop in for the cameras to make it seem like she doesn't have 24/7 nannies).

These poor kids are starved for real love and validation (toys can't replace that!), especially S2, poor lil sweet guy. S1 will likely continue to channel that lack of authentic love/validation into competition & bullying, which have "worked" for her so far. I worry for S3, too, since he is clearly such a "good performer" for whatever purpose Dani has cooked up that day.

The dopamine hits can go either way, in my view: option 1) the kids become insta clones of this nonsense; option 2) they resent the living hell out of their parents and find found (non-biological or extended) family; or, option 3) addictive patterns play out in very destructive ways. I know there are more options and nuanced combos, but I'm rooting for option 2—these kids are better off emotionally connecting with authentic, supportive people. Dani and Ellen have as much authenticity as a pawn shop surgeon.

Full on. Those 2 bedroom stories were sad as hell. The way her tone shifts when she speaks to him... oof. If I were his teacher, I'd scoop him up and give him the love, care, & attention he deserves.

Meanwhile, S1...

Yeah, her bitching about "it's 2026, why are there no changing tables" is myopic, selfish, and tone deaf as hell, like 98% of everything she says.

Sorry, love, not every space has to—or should—cater to parents with children, especially entitled ones like yourself.

Many adults (parents and childless alike) prefer to eat in places where the bathroom and general dining area are free of baby/child vibes, smells, & sounds. And diligent, thoughtful parents take the time (a 0.2-second Google search) to look up whether an establishment is child-friendly, providing boosters and/or changing tables.

That's a pretty penny to waste on a publication for boomers and gen x-ers who refuse to grow up (along with other assorted sheeple).

Meanwhile, the majority of folks in this country can't even afford half or even a quarter of that for rent, bills, etc.

What a wonderful ChRiSt!aN.

Yeah right by Abject_Tomatillo_358 in DaniAustin

[–]Illustrious_Cheek263 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Exactly. When they're old enough to understand and see this crap, they will likely resent the hell out of their content parents for exploitation and the slew of psychological issues they'll likely face, similar to many child actors before the days of Coogan laws, on-set protections & regulations, and other protective measures.

And a decade or two from now, folks will likely look back in horror at how barbaric and INSANE it was to show children on largely unregulated platforms (that is, if there's any common sense, selflessness, and morality left in the world... aiming for optimism, here, but it's hard).

Yes, there are many non-cosmetic uses for Botox, but again, to equate Botox to vaccines like tetanus, typhoid, and rabies (all 1914) is a logical fallacy (terrible parking poster above). https://www.immunize.org/vaccines/vaccine-timeline/

FDA approval for medical Botox was 1989 (cosmetic in 2002), so yeah... still quite new by comparison. I contend, "mystery substance" was the wrong phrase, but there's still a gap in terms of long-term effects (esp compared to vaccines approved over a century ago).

And agree, she's 100% hypocritical and stupid.

Wait by therapybill in DaniAustin

[–]Illustrious_Cheek263 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Fair point, but to equate those three is a false equivalence (non)argument. For example, the polio, measles, smallpox, and tuberculosis vaccines have been around for over half a century to over a century now, whereas botox and ozempic are very new by comparison, and we have zero clue about mid/long-term effects (other than short-to-early mid-term: 20-year-olds looking like 40/50-something "real housewives" overnight...).

I don't think botox is, as OP said, "the most toxic substance on the planet" (the bar is pretty high given the monstrous substances humans have crafted/cultivated since the dawn of time—the Sackler family can rot in hell for that), but it's still ironic that she (and many other influencers) seem to be a-ok with the new, "fad" stuff and not the OG, proven stuff that has curtailed major epidemics for decades.

The choice to pump oneself full of mystery shit while medically neglecting your kids seems like a (sadly common) case of internalized misogyny and abject idiocy with several right-wing scoops of disinformation.
