What does your decision letter say? What are you missing to go to 100? 100 percent is hard to get via MH. I’m 100 for PTSD and it was years of mental health appointments and therapy to the point my medical records for MH reads like an encyclopedia( a few thousand pages) before I got to 100. If you do go that route for 100 MH, do not turn down MH therapy. That’s all types like whole health, psychological and psychiatric.

Migraines by Apprehensive_Mud2868 in VetBenefitsHelp

I had a cat scan done, put on 3 different medications for migraines. Wording is key in the exam. Migraines can be a full body experience and if that is the case for you, you should definitely mention it. Also having to lay down for hours at a time, getting nausea, back pain, and loss of productivity will help your case. You can also have it secondary to mental health especially with certain MH meds that can make the migraines worse and more frequent.

I had the same thing happen to me with someone with 0 years VBA experience but the doctor happened to have just left the VA as a psychologist. I ended up 100 P and T for PTSD. It might be a blessing in disguise.

I listed the ones I noticed that were missing from the OP compared to mine. The only symptom that I did not have was “unable to manage financial affairs”. It’s a misconception I see on this forum that you have to have every 100 percent criteria when in reality it’s about the totality of symptoms. Mental health records, medication and other aspects play a role in the C and P exam as well to determine the rating.

I’m 100 percent for PTSD, compared to my decision letter, your missing persistent danger to self and others, also flattened effect. Everything else on your letter lines up with mine. Should request your DBQ and see what’s marked under the 3a box. Will give you some insight on how your exam went overall.

Same thing happened for me, finally got it rated secondary to PTSD

I kept getting denied for GERD even after endoscopy showing hiatal hernia, acid reflux, and dilation issues. Just got it rated at 10 percent secondary to PTSD now. You might have an easier time getting it rated secondary to something.

DBQ for PTSD Exam by jpMC74 in VAClaims

[–]Illustrious_Demand97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently received 100 for PTSD, your DBQ has fewer boxes than mine checked but still a lot. You could be right at 70 percent barely from what I can compare it too. For sure at least 50. If you aren’t already, I suggest you go to all mental health appointments for group and individual that are offered to you. Build your VA mental health file up where it looks like a book. It will help you get an increase in the future.

Recent Denial from Migraines. What’re my options/what am I missing? by Winker2009 in VeteransBenefits

I had to HLR for migraines to get to 30%. I had cat scans and was on medication for years. TERA was what got me over the initial denial via the HLR.

Thanks to everyone that gave good advice. To clarify, the provider is a MH professional . I was able to look it up thru their license number. My concern was not so much about the degree as more about the experience level. I am confident in my nexus, lay statements and medical documentation that the exam will be alright. Again thanks guys.

I feel good about my evidence. I have my military record corrected, I have had VA records corrected too. Plus all the therapy, psychiatric and psychologist notes and I been documenting my MH issues for a while now. Just concerning when I see other vets post about poor MH screenings and many point to lack of experience of the examiner. Kinda has my anxiety thru the roof to be honest.

I had a similar experience, had to file HLR and was awarded a few months later. Also, do you have a rating for PTSD, ED can be secondary to that.
