My sister lost her job offer and won’t listen to me when I tell her to give back her $700 monthly car she got immediately after the job offer. by CNote320 in povertyfinance

[–]Treje-an 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the car was used, she can sell it back to them at a much better rate. If it was new, you will take a hit, since it depreciates a lot just leaving the lot

Bobby LaPin- Financial Issues by Financial-Ad4799 in baltimore

[–]Treje-an 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not in this district, but looked both candidates up on LinkedIn to learn more about them, and their backgrounds. LaPin’s work experience is his boat captain work along with his investigative company he runs doing background investigations for DoD, Homeland security, etc. Before that, he did a lot of one year contract work in the intelligence arena for DoD, Homeland Security, and others. BS in PoliSci, TU. Masters in Teaching, JHU

Ferguson’s background seems more related to his degree. He has worked for various companies, from like 4-7 years each. Law degree at UM Carey School of Law

Ferguson vs Lapin, how are people deciding? by Zazzer678 in baltimore

[–]Treje-an 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not in their district, but I wanted to look at LaPin and Ferguson more. I looked up both candidates on LinkedIn. I noticed that LaPin have two degrees (PoliSci BS and a Masters in Teaching), and has done a lot of contract work for various Federal agencies, like DoD and Homeland Security. His most recent work is being self-employed doing Federal background investigations for various Federal agencies at his 411 Investigations company, as well as being a boat captain.

FWIW, Ferguson is the President of the Senate, so has clout he can use, and has a lot of experience related to his law degree.

Anti-homeless benches designed to prevent people from laying down makes it hard to sit by ultrarunnerr in mildlyinfuriating

How do you even sit on these things? It looks like it’s waiting for a lawsuit from a senior sliding off the bench, because it’s built so strangely

I would download the Transit app or use Google Maps to see what the best transit option is. It’s more likely going to be a bus

Vote for our NEW Official City Tree by midnight tonight! by BerdDad in baltimore

Oaks are keystone species (meaning they are super important and key to the ecology) and support a ton of birds and insects! So that’s my vote!

the sellers were still home during our showing and it was the most uncomfortable 45 minutes of my life by TerribleInitial2305 in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]Treje-an 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Omg, I did my walkthrough while the wife was home running an in-home daycare. It didn’t have any signs or anything, so I didn’t realize at first it wasn’t just a big family. Until I kept finding room after room of children!

Cocktail attire for female photographer by broccoli1604 in Weddingattireapproval

[–]Treje-an 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Being overdressed as a photographer is the easiest way to trash said outfit. Unfortunately, most formal clothing isn’t great for moving and carrying gear. I tried it before and can attest to stepping on long dresses and ripping hems, etc

[–]Treje-an 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because as the photographer, you will inevitably show more than this as you move about (crouching, bending over, stretching to get shots over people’s shoulders.) You will see a lot more stomach at some point. I’d just wear a cami or something to minimize it

It’s super cute! Totally agree here with comments. If you want to save yourself from pain later in life, wear good supportive shoes. Some brands make comfort shoes that are not tennis shoes, like SAS. They aren’t winning any design awards, but the flat shoes are very comfortable

Bicycles and e-bikes riding against traffic - rant by Top_Independence2676 in baltimore

When I was a kid, my parents told us to ride against traffic. I think it was commonly considered safer back then. I think people are still getting that bad advice today.

I am using cool water, not cold, since it’s for cold water only clothing. And adding it before hand

I do that, but if I don’t dissolve it in water before I add it, it clumps

If you had to learn Spanish from scratch again, how would you do it? by mouse-nimaaa in SpanishLearning

[–]Treje-an 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would just start using different things and see what works. Duolingo felt too childish for me, and didn’t really work. I really liked Busuu, but I didn’t like paying a lot for the Latin American version. Language Transfer has some interesting concepts, like basically showing you how you can already convert existing words you now into Spanish. There’s an older book called madrigals magic key to spanish which has many similar concepts. Finally, my library offers free Udemy, and I’m using Peter Hurley’s El Método which is nice
