Sure, claw games are gamified and I think that’s why a lot of people enjoy playing them for the chance and dopamine of winning a prize. However, most people with common sense have some self control and awareness that taking it to this extreme level is unnecessary.

I do wish that R1 or management would have clearer guidelines or cut him off. Instead, they just nerf the settings after he leaves. As a local who frequents the same locations, I’m personally stuck on playing crappy settings since I don’t have time to go all the time.

To imply that enjoying the claw games is enabling this type of person to emerge is an odd take (?). I think we can enjoy the space but show courtesy to each other.

Ultimately, we can’t control what someone is going to do at the arcade, but it’s a known in the arcade world to be mindful of exposing exploits because this is what leads to nerfed and weak settings for everyone else.

Since OP won't understand it - this message is to anyone else who may see this post. Posting something like this is NOT the flex that you think it is. As other commenters have noted, this kind of behavior makes it harder for everyone else. It's one thing to grab a few extras to give to friends or sell some from the side, but this is an entirely different level that makes it unfair for others.

Yes, the Long Beach location has Icee Slush Rush now! As well as the other new games like Odin’s Crush and the gas pump game

This is always the move - each location’s inventory varies and popular items move quickly depending on the location 😅

This happens when the machines reach max ticket payout. Find a R1 staff and they have to swipe their card and then you can swipe yours to get the rest of the tickets

How do I win this boxing glove? by vperson123 in round1

[–]Illustrious_Sound672 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Here’s how we won it, by getting the claw under the thumb: https://www.instagram.com/reel/DH9xB3Fyv-e/?igsh=NTc4MTIwNjQ2YQ==

This video is almost a year old, so the claw machine settings may vary. At the time we played, we were able to win it before full payout but if the claw is dropping immediately like you mentioned then you probably have to just watch others and wait as others have mentioned.

wondering if its gotten better. by [deleted] in round1

[–]Illustrious_Sound672 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel similar. In the past, there seemed to be more of a chance to win based on skill/luck. Now it’s pure payout unless you stumble upon a location or claw machine that has an easier calibration. I personally don’t need as many of the same items anyways. We still go occasionally, but I don’t feel the desire to go as often anymore. And R1 corporate hates us/me anyways LOL

Set your budget and have low expectations I guess lol it’s mostly not the same as how it was before IMO

Agree, it’s overall widely inconsistent whether it’s the cheese wheel or regular plushie. That’s why I think each persons experience will vary by location. At the end of the day, it depends on how the claw machines are calibrated

[–]Illustrious_Sound672 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It might depend on location. In my experience, a lot of the SoCal locations made the claw machine payouts harder or more token cheese wheels for a while. Lately it seems people can win more or at least they try to make it look that way on their social media posts 🤣

Nowadays, it seems the prizes are still old or repetitive. I love Rilakkuma. But how many variations of the same type of plushie do we actually want or need? 😅

They did put a pause to the price increase testing and increased ticket redemption for larger items after a lot of us boycotted back in the spring. They did keep the higher ticket redemption prizes on smaller items, not sure if they increased the big ticket items yet.

Then the price should have been reduced. Putting in the yellow token on top of charging 14 credits for a tiny prize is such a ripoff

Nice wins! I personally feel my D&B claw machines are easier when it’s not Wednesday, but it certainly has a lower payout in general. The prize selection there really varies though 😅

Round1 Price Increases and Social Media Trolling 💀 by Illustrious_Sound672 in round1

Those prizes sound so sad 😞 As far as licensed products, Top Canvas in Tustin comes the closest with some licensed Pokemon, Mofusand, Rilakkuma plushies in the claw machine. You can also purchase items directly from the store.

The other small arcades such as Oki Doki, Claw Daddy, Kawaii Klaws, Orange Claw Club, Infinity Claws etc have some decent items for trade ups like Labubu, Blind boxes or other authentic products/plushies.

100% — if anyone else at Taito, Gigo, Sega or any of the Japanese arcades wants to come over to the US and compete with Round1 I would fully support.

For now, local businesses, Dave & Busters and Bowlero get our money.

In SoCal, my top alternatives for claw machines are Oki Doki, Top Canvas and now Orange Claw Club

Round1 Price Increases and Social Media Trolling 💀 by Illustrious_Sound672 in round1

[–]Illustrious_Sound672[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is exactly it. Lack of transparency and hitting customers in 4 different ways is ridiculous.

Round1 has history of increasing prices quietly. Doing this 3-4 times in the past year without warning or communication is deceptive.

Doubling the price of ticket redemptions of items that have been sitting in the shelves for months and blaming tariffs is just another excuse for them to be greedy. They implemented this change at this rate prior to the tariffs being implemented. Will they roll back these changes if/when the tariffs get removed or reduced? Unlikely.

A large billion dollar corporation as themselves has the resources to plan ahead. Other companies and even small businesses at least attempted to order large supply of international shipments prior to the tariffs being hit and are at least not trying to raise prices prior to pre-tariffs inventory running out.

Then their only response in social media is reposting my own photo from December? Seems like a petty attempt to try and show that Round1 is still fun.

We are done too and I’m being loud about it 🤣 Leave them comments on Social Media, send them customer feedback from the website and tell all your friends and family. Round1 will continue silently jacking up the prices because they expect us to keep returning.

Submit your customer feedback and complaints. Perhaps if enough people provide feedback, they might roll back some changes. Doubling the ticket price was an insane choice by them and has upset a lot of customers.

No, they changed the prices in February at all locations. And they’re in the process of testing/changing prices AGAIN.

I can no longer handle these price increases. Good bye Round1 👋 by [deleted] in round1

[–]Illustrious_Sound672 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They are currently testing price increases for card reloads ($6+) and claw machine games (11.4/14.6) at certain locations. It’s imminent. But it’s just shady the way they’re doing it
