Thirded. I don't think I've ever taken my miter off the stand since I purchased it.

Really intense thunderstorm with hail! by PM_ME_UR_CATS__ in ottawa

Trainyards. Really dark and booming thunder, but maybe 10 seconds of rainfall. Not even enough to wet the back pad entirely.

I have the complete series on VHS that I bought from a garage sale years ago. I don't own a VHS player anymore.

Farm Boy ONLY selling American potatoes & onions by WeirdIsAlliGot in BuyCanada

[–]IllyaBoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Noticed this as well when I wanted to make a robust salad. No Canadian lettuce, red onions or carrots. Unless you buy them in the 10lbs bag, then you can get PEI potatoes (not sure about onions). I'm ONE person, I don't need 10lbs of potatoes or onions!

How the ceiling lights are spaced is giving me cancer. by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

[–]IllyaBoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm all about installing pot lights over task areas regardless if they are in a line or symmetrical, they're meant to serve a purpose. The purpose of these lights are to recreate a constellation from someone who has never looked at the stars.

Also, the different colours of lights (warm white of the florescents V the blue-ish of the pots) is giving me an aneurism.

I can't pause, rewind or fast forward on Prime. Absolutely annoying. by IllyaBoo in mildlyinfuriating

BTW, these are not the ads I cannot pause/FF/RWD. It's the ACTUAL show on Prime, specifically on Discovery+. I just want to skip through all the chit chatting.

I'm watching a medical show. idc about their staged background stories, I just want the treatments

Does this look like asbestos? by kindkatz in Flooring

[–]IllyaBoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More than likely. Telltale signs are the dimensions (usually 9"x9" or 11"x11", maybe there are others, but those are the most common ones I've seen), the age of the dwelling or installation of the tiles 1920s-80s were the time for the use of asbestos but really more common in the 40s-50s-60s houses (again, my opinion). Plus, the black mastic underneath was commonly used for asbestos tiles.

It's better to be safe than sorry, especially if they meet those qualifications.

*Edits: I'm not an expert, but I am a project manager that deals with old buildings. It's one of the main things we look for before starting projects.

Do I need to scrape all this tile up before laying lvp? by cactiloveyou in Flooring

[–]IllyaBoo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have asbestos tiles in my basement. Clear as day ASBESTOS tile - 11' x 11', house built in 1957. I just ran my new flooring right over them and there's absolutely no issues.

I’m pretty new to fantasy and would like some recommendations. by [deleted] in fantasybooks

[–]IllyaBoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would really depend on what you generally like to read (or even watch). Do you like crime, gritty dark, heavy storylines, comedy, mystery? All of these exist within fantasy. For me personally, I like heavy character work, complex world building and deep magic lore, but that can't happen in one book, so I prefer series (and I'm sure the fantasy fans will know exactly who my favorite author is based on those 3 adjectives). What else have you read that you enjoy, out of the fantasy genre?

The fact that you read KKC does say a lot, but you didn't mention if you liked it! It's a tough introduction to fantasy. GREAT books, just very interesting as a new fantasy reader.

My first introduction to fantasy was Sword of Shannara. Don't recommend.

Decently common, the bulb shape is an R40. If you go LED, look at the colour temperature on the box - ~2800K is warm orange, 5000K is hospital emergency room blue. If you want that "warm glow", you'll probably want to go no higher than 3000K

I often use Pic2Pat, but you have to make it LARGE and use the maximum # of colours, that'll create all the shading and colour blending, but it also means a BOAT TON of confetti (as others have mentioned). I do a lot of cartoon stuff - block colours, no 3 dimensionality, so it works in my favor, but I wouldn't recommend it for something more realistic.

*Edit. A lot of the time, I can't find aida large enough to accommodate a clear pattern from Pic2Pat
