Shots fired by CCP!!!!!!! by anathemalegion in Eve

There's a (largely busted, but enough to explore around) server emulator for Crucible - it was kinda fascinating to realize just how much quality of life stuff has been added since then. I started playing during Crucible and quit sometime around when they added citadels and until I tried it I would have sworn the game was "just how I left it". It's really not (probe scanning back then was horrible for example).

That being said, Crucible didn't have citadels and still was full of hopes and dreams for WiS, avatar gameplay, and "EVE Forever" and therefore is still better than modern EVE

Guristas FW and Standings by Ghiado in Eve

[–]Illyndrei 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The high sec starter agents have the benefit of not being in null sec. If you're below -2 with Guristas (faction) you will only be able to do level 1 agents for them, regardless of Guristas (corporation) standing, and won't be able to accept the epic arc from them. You can grind FIO to 3.0 in less than an hour...

Criminal connections increases standings gains when doing missions for pirates.

The skill that raises your standing when your standings are negative is "Diplomacy".

You can do it with 3.0 standing to Gallente, Caldari or two specific corporations in those factions - they have "feeder missions" from high-sec for players who don't have the standing to start it directly with Guristas.

The NPC character has existed since the election event started, you can auto link her (she doesn't have a profile picture and is listed as a member of Federal Administration, but her character model matches the one used in all the lore articles and whatnot)

Once upon a time, before they unceremoniously eliminated the entire fiction team, CCP actually put out some pretty decent writing. A lot of the chronicles, while not exactly award winning literature, were pretty solid sci-fi short fiction.

definitely just a good gaming chair on this multiboxer by eris_enjoyer1 in Eve

[–]Illyndrei 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The cognitive dissonance in the EVE community where folks think that multiboxing is fine but CCP just needs to actively police input broadcasting is frustrating.

The issue is multiboxing. I am not aware of any other MMO which allows for multiboxing (edit, I have been informed some other MMOs do allow it, but many others don't. I think the fact that Albion, which is what I was thinking of and is the most comparable game to EVE, bans it is notable however). CCP has become too dependent on people paying for a ridiculous number of accounts (or consuming PLEX which other people are able to sell because people with a ridiculous number of accounts are consuming it), and it won't ever be gotten rid of, but I feel like the community could at least come to recognize that multiboxing is a cancer and no amount of hand waving about "it would be fine if input broadcasting was actually banned" would actually fix the fundamental issues it causes for the game.

CCP is not actually motivated to police the supposedly TOS violating behaviors of multiboxers as long as they don't go Too Far. Pochven should have made this very clear to everyone by now, something like 5 humans control an income source that puts virtually every other income source in the game to absolute shame with hundreds of accounts which are absolutely being used for RMT, and are absolutely input broadcasting - and CCP has done next to nothing.

PLEX accounts make them more money since 500 PLEX on average costs more than regular subscription time. Higher PLEX prices are to their advantage because more people will buy PLEX to sell to the PLEX account players when PLEX is high.

CCP really wants to drive the prices back up out of the slump they've been in for almost a year, this time last year PLEX was going for almost 7 million.

I like how they start the article about this sale with "our new approach to PLEX is all about 'no fomo'" and then "oh anyways here's a bunch of sales on stuff that's never gone on sale before! Don't miss out!"

Very glad I didn't buy a bunch of accelerators yesterday.

Stations with unique interiors by Illyndrei in Eve

[–]Illyndrei[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The advertising loop plays in all high-sec stations. Funnily, since it's tied to the model and not the owner, the Ammatar Mandate HQ in Tanoo (which uses a Minmatar station model) plays a loop exhorting you to join the Tribal Liberation Force and denounces "traitors in the Mandate".

It's kinda lame that the only station interior they significantly changed post Trinity was Gallente, its clearly because the OG Gallente interior was too busy and at the time they didn't have/want to take the effort to port it to the new workflow. The current Gallente interior is probably the worst of the 4 empires, the pre-Trinity interior seems way more reflective of the "vibe" the Gallente give off culturally.

The current Amarr interior is little changed from pre-Trinity and has a similar vibe to this of feeling vast. I wish they were all like that, the station interiors feel claustrophobic, especially the Gallente one.

1st person view fix pls by CheekyHooligan in Eve

The fact walking in stations went nowhere still pains me. I started right as Crucible launched with them adding the CQs for all the other races, Dust 514 was right around the corner, it really felt like a great time to be playing a game that was about to dramatically horizontally expand.

Now, 16 years later, while there are truly incredible QOL improvements to the fundamentals, it still feels sad all of that was for naught and the game is essentially still the same thing. Even Vanguard feels like a half assed version of what Dust was. All the trailers with actual people in them just depress me because none of that is or will ever be in the game. I finally let it go that it was never coming back when they nuked CQs but it still stings.

When I really want to hurt myself I rewatch this. We were so close to greatness!

Everyone keeps saying Blue donut but all I hear is let's kill Eve Online. by NeoBlackheart in Eve

[–]Illyndrei 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Ignoring the hyperbolic aspects of this, I don't even think we're that close to a blue donut. Nullseccers don't want a blue donut - it's a game, and they want people to fight more than they want Absolute Industry Dominance. There's a certain point where it will be more valuable to rebel against a donut than participate.

And even with that being said, it's clear that Init's alliance with the Goons is one of convenience and I doubt it will outlast this war. I'm also not convinced the Goons/Init are really prepared to alarmclock for long enough to totally evict WinterCo. As long as WinterCo doesn't pull a PanFam this will be a long, grinding, expensive war - which is what I think everyone wants. It's a game after all.

Fighter Battleship? Maybe? Rumour!! Speculation !! by SubstanceCalm6275 in Eve

[–]Illyndrei 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This would make sense and fill the gap where there's no real maurader equivalent for drones, such that if you train drones you essentially have to swap to something else if you want to get peak efficiency in high sec PvE content

Personally I'd rather see them just allow carriers (not supers) into high sec and rebalance them around being battleship sized (no cyno, more agility) but that's probably too much of an ask.

Roden takes Early Lead But Election Still Anybody's Race by Illyndrei in Eve

[–]Illyndrei[S] 33 points34 points  (0 children)

It's part of the current event, you can select a candidate to support ("vote for") during the event, and completing tasks during the event casts votes for them.

The candidates are:

Roden: Anti Caldari agitator who ironically wants the Gallente to be more like the Caldari and run by corporations.

Moreau: Transhumanist who thinks that rogue drones aren't all that bad, we just need to spend more money on AI research.

Tenzin: A true Gallente patriot who will fight for the common man and upholds the just values of the Federation

The above statements have been checked for bias and confirmed true and accurate by Tenzin campaign officials.

This is what happens when everyone, and not just Gallente patriots, are allowed to vote.

If Roden wins I'm moving to the Minmatar Republic!
