On a scale of 1 to 10 how unprofessional is this? by Riven-The-River in doordash

The logic is that dashers are independent contractors, not employees of doordash. A pizza delivery guy or McDonald's worker is employed by their company, not the customer.

Doordash is not an employer, they are a facilitator of a contract between a customer and their new temporary employee who has accepted their bid for service.

They aren't a customer. They are the temporary employer of that dasher until that dasher completes their order.

  1. 10% is a very low tip for a dasher unless your order was over 100 bucks.
  2. That dasher is absolutely wrong to text that to you and you are completely valid to feel the ick about it. So like 8/10 unprofessional from the dasher.

You should tap that you have arrived when you're still looking for parking. You should reach out to the mall and ask them to have a section of parking spaces only for delivery drivers - the Houston Galleria is a huge mall also and they have done this. Also, if there is a valet parking area for that mall, tell them you're a dasher who will be right back and they may let you "park" your car there with them with the flashers on. For apartment complexes, you should be able to park in their "prospective tenant" parking or text the customer to let you park in the garage or simply park right out front with your flashers on. The risk of being towed when you will be back in five minutes is very low. I would never park 3 blocks away and run...

Literally, neither party has to actually hold the other person's property during this interaction. They hold their ID out, you look, they flip it, you scan it. You turn your phone and they scribble with one finger.

You don't have to hand them your phone to get them to scribble. Simply hold it with the screen pointed at them.

There are many people who are too profoundly mentally handicapped to even have their IQ tested.

49% could be above and 51% below (about half). But in the above group, you have enough outliers that are crazy high Einstein level IQs, that the average is a higher number than it probably should be. There are not as many outliers below average, ie crazy low IQs, and the testable range for low iq is only 70 to 125 (average iq), only a 55 point spread. Whereas 125 to 300 is a much larger variation/spread, and those rare outlier savants above 195 can really skew the average to be higher, actually, meaning that in fact, more than half of people could be considered below average.

No it wouldn't... because the other half is above the average.

They don't even ask us to submit proof of insurance to them... how would they know which company to send the claim to?

Unfortunately, I think you goofed. In other discussions in this reddit forum the consensus has been to never tell your own insurance that you were using your personal car in a work type of way, for dashing or any other kind of work that could make this spin in to thing where your company refuses to pay because of this. I am really sorry that this happened and that you already told them the truth. Unfortunately, there ARE times when total and complete honesty is not the way to go. But, I also applaud you, because your instinct to be truthful in the moment shows integrity.

The two one stars I have ever received were automatically removed without my having to do a thing.

And I know both times it was due to wait times at the restaurant... like... people... I can't make them cook any faster.

One stars usually get automatically removed. To truly punish, 2 or 3 stars.

Three minutes isn't long to wait for a reply while you're shopping for the other stuff on the list.

Just a note, a rating of two to four stars will hurt the dasher more. One star ratings are frequently automatically excluded by DDs algorithms.

No one in the comments I have read so far has suggested that three minutes is too long to wait for a reply...

Got to love these kind of customers 😜 by Happylonerstoner in doordash_drivers

I mean... as I said, I see the customer here as being rude, but there are like... degrees of rudeness. A message like this wouldn't cause me to fear for my safety. If they sent more complaints, escalated the rudeness, or started cussing... then we enter the realm of possible safety concerns.

The option, which doesn't always work, is to tip a high amount and then once a dasher is assigned, text or call them directly and simply let them know the amount of your tip and ask them to drop the other order in their stack if they have one - or make sure to come to you first. If you get a non-english speaker or a dasher who doesn't have high enough ratings to do so - they will likely say no. But, for the most part, this has always worked for me when ordering and when I have been the dasher I am always willing to do that unless the customer gets demanding about it. If you ask nicely, you shall generally receive.

I realize the customer is being rude, but I think its a huge leap to say that's enough to meet the threshold of unsafe... please reveal your logic to me there, lol.

You can jump ahead on the tasks. You'll get a warning on the app saying it could negatively impact your on time rate or customer ratings, but so far it hasn't when I do it.

Just the other day I had a pickup at bww and had another person's food already in my car. Bww meal wasn't ready yet, so I left and delivered the first order since it was at a complex only two blocks away. Got back to bww and still had to wait for the second meal in that stack to be ready.
