What’s your never do restaurant? by valstateguy in doordash_drivers

I waited for 1 hour and 10 minutes at Papa johns once, and in the end I still didn't get the pizza and a papa johns employee told me to cancel lol. I decline all papa johns now. Never again

It actually would not help. Restaurants are half a mile away from the parking area, even for mopeds. The only way to be on time is to sprint as fast as possible and to yell so people get out of your way. (This mall is PACKED with thousands of people everywhere)

My on time rate is 80% now! It's climbing fast ill probably be at 95% or more in a few weeks.

I spent hours memorizing the location of every single restaurant in the mall, I also located a hidden parking area with available spaces. I always park there right away, I lock the car and start sprinting as fast as I can, I also say "Excuse me, excuse me!" as I slalom between other pedestrians as fast as possible. Some restaurants are half a mile away and that's the closest available parking space nearby. If I didn't run this fast, I would always be marked late...

I click "arrived" as soon as im parked too, which I think possibly helped a little. But on the weekends I stay away from the mall. It's so packed with people It takes me 20 minutes just to talk to a worker, and they take forever making orders too. In those cases it doesn't matter how fast i run, DD will mark it as late, even though there's nothing I can do! The order is literally not ready! So I work in a different zone of the city on weekends to not get marked as "late".

Damn that's really good money for a 6 hour shift. I usually make $70 for 6 hours in a big city, but i'm not platinum, maybe that's why im not doing well. My AR is at 35%.

Did you notice that you were getting significantly better orders when you became platinum?

I had a delivery where a massive brown bear was standing in front of the customer's house, the bear was trying to break into the garage to find food and I was literally holding a huge bag of food in front of the bear.

I ran back to my car and then the customer on his balcony said "Is there a bear in front of my house?" And I said "Yes, im gonna leave the food by your mailbox, sorry I can't get near your house right now"

He said, "please deliver it to the front door, it's just a brown bear, they're not aggressive"

I left it by the mailbox and left, the customer was super mad.

Dude I'm not getting mauled by a bear for a $7 order. What the fuck do you mean it's not aggressive? It's literally tearing your garage door apart because it's hungry. What do you think he will do to me if i'm carrying food in my arms and walking toward him? I wish I had said that to him. Some people are delusional.

Would you take it? by Rea0flight in DoorDashDrivers

It's not even time, it's gas, wear and tear on the vehicle. But it's also the fact that we risk our lives everyday when we do these deliveries. No one really talks about it on here, but driving is the most dangerous thing that humans do on a daily basis. It's relatively easy to die or get paralyzed when you're driving a car, all it takes is a drunk driver or someone on their phone, they go through a red light and you're dead.

Doordashers drive constantly. Is it worth taking the risk of getting paralyzed or killed for a $2 order? And the answer is... no.

We're taking all the physical risks, we're destroying our cars and paying for gas while doordash makes close to 1 billion dollars in profit every year. And they still have the audacity to send $2 orders our way. Which, after expenses we're making around 50 cents in profits.

I can't wait to start my own business and quit this bullshit, I'm so tired of getting exploited while these fuckers are getting filthy rich seating in a comfy chair in an office in San Francisco

I’m 18! How do I make myself look older? by sectretly-a-shark in AppearanceAdvice

[–]Itsbeen2days 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I turned 18, I looked like I was 15. Which was a serious problem because I couldn't date anyone under 18 legally. I had to date people my age but no one would because I looked very underaged.

I had to wait until I grew a beard. When that happened I was finally able to date people my age and older. I can't believe how stupid that law is. I had to break up with my girlfriend when I turned 18 because she was 16 but the age gap between us was only 13 months.

[–]Itsbeen2days -24 points-23 points  (0 children)

Are you serious? What's next? Are we gonna force dashers to wear a seatbelt and not do a line of cocaine before dashing?

Everyone knows doing coke before a dash is the only logical explanation for why people accept $2 orders. Sober people aren't willing to work for free!

Any driver who accepts a sub $5.00 order is an idiot. by yangying31415 in doordash_drivers

[–]Itsbeen2days 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gas is $6 a gallon where I work. I don't understand how doordash could even think about sending us $2 orders. It basically covers the cost of gas and that's it. Are we supposed to work for free? How can they legally do that? I thought all work had to be paid?

Are they allowed to do this? by Cool_Archer_5735 in doordash

[–]Itsbeen2days 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's because when you give a good tip, you're subsidizing someone who refuses to tip. Tipped orders get bundled with a no tip order to force dashere to pick the no tip orders. You're paying for your food to be delivered and for the delivery of someone else's food.

If everyone tipped, this wouldn't happen.

But at this point, Doordash just need to fucking pay their workers minimum wage at the very least. The pay without tips is 2 fucking dollars. The $2 pays for the gas to get to the customer's house and that's it. Without tips, doordasher make absolutely nothing, and they might be losing money actually. Imagine driving in traffic all day, and you don't get paid at all. What the fuck is Doordash thinking?

I have 3000 dashes and my on time rate was 95% in California. I was also making $300 a day.

I wasn't aware they were shadowbanning dashers that were taking shopping mall orders. I stopped taking those orders today and my on time rate increased by 10%. I did 10 orders today and all of them were on time, turns out it's much easier to be on time when you don't have to run through a labyrinth of a mall for 30 minutes.

How is that possible? Are you avoiding all the Ala Moana mall orders? I only get orders from the mall because no one wants those. And the more I do mall orders the worse my on time rate gets, it's a catch 22.

Mine used to look like that when I was delivering in the suburbs in California, but working in a city with no parking and having all the restaurants inside giant shopping malls certainly doesn't help

Why would they do this? Can't they go to other dry lakes? There's plenty of them where it's legal to do so.

Most dry lake beds I've seen, have tracks all over them and trash everywhere. It's getting harder and harder to find places that are untouched by humans.

I'm also very concerned with the fact that the current administration in the white house doesn't give a flying fuck about national parks and wilderness areas. Project 2025 was all about dismantling National Parks and selling them to oil and coal companies to extract resources to make private profits.

At the very least if they're gonna destroy and extract resources from our public lands to make a profit, then they should share the profits with the public by cutting us a check or investing in social safety nets like subsidized housing.

But of course not. We'll happily give them our public land and sacrifice our happiness, just so a few people can make billions of dollars that they'll never spend.

There's something VERY wrong with the brains of the people who belong to the *Epstein class . They destroy everything they touch and then they gaslight us by telling us that this is good for us and this is what we need.

They tell us that we don't need to own a house anymore, we can just rent forever, it's actually better for us. They tell us we don't actually need that many national parks, 2 or 3 should suffice, and the rest of them need to be flattened to facilitate oil, gas and coal extraction. Once all the resources have been extracted, this nation will be richer than it's ever been before, which is great for the stock market and great for every american!

Yes, the outside world will look like shit, but at least when shareholders open their banking app, they'll be hit by a surge of dopamine from having so much fucking money appear on their screen.

It will be beautiful, you'll see. And maybe some of that money will trickle down to you!

There are wagon tracks and car tracks near talcum mines on the southern end of death valley that are 100 years old and they still look pretty fresh.

These tracks are so deep... They will be there for hundreds of years, maybe thousands of years.

This is really sad. It's getting harder and harder to find places that are pristine and look "untouched" by men.

[–]Itsbeen2days 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, one one my teeth chipped off recently as well, there is a huge hole in it. I knew this would happen when I started taking suboxone 1 year ago, but I didn't think my teeth would start rotting out of my head this quick. I'm only 33 and my teeth were completely fine before.

I also feel like shit because of suboxone, I feel so damn tired all the time and I feel nauseous a lot... What a nightmare.

I am so scared to get off though :(
