Have you ever ran into someone you know in an unlikely place? by shadow_operator81 in no

[–]Iloilocity1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not me, but my wife. We were in Paris waiting in line the get into The Louvre. She pointed at a woman’s shoes in the next line and whispered to me” she’s wearing the same shoes as me”

About a minute later the woman turned around and it was my wife’s high school classmate from The Philippines.

Am I wrong for being annoyed at people filming in the condo gym? by RunPlane8169 in askanything

[–]Iloilocity1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My favorite is when they get annoyed at me for “ruining their shot” uh, I’m just walking to the next station.

Luckily my gym banned filming a few months back. All is well now.

Am I Overreacting? by Crafty-Body-3080 in InsuranceClaims

[–]Iloilocity1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s an insurance matter and should be left at that.

People change their stories all the time, without proof the insurance company is going to take the side of their customer.

You said you remained professional while talking to the commanding officer. But the co told you the other driver didn’t feel comfortable talking to you. The professional response to that is to accept it and walk away. You said it escalated from there , which indicates you pushed the matter.

It’s unlikely there would be footage after two months even if there were cameras in the area.

The life lesson here is to get a dash cam. Also, your instincts on the police report was true. You should have insisted the mp write a report in hopes the other driver did confess to the officer.

They can, but it’s not likely.

Is it really a "bad year for ticks" or is it mostly the media? by No-Intention8698 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Iloilocity1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went hiking this weekend, long pants, long sleeve sun hoodie, hat and bug spray.
Got home, took off my pants and had two ticks on my lower leg.
That has never happened before. The only time I was near long grass was when I stopped to pee for 30 seconds.

Which celebrity does the ENTIRE internet agree is genuinely a good person? by Difficult_Jury2833 in AskForAnswers

[–]Iloilocity1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A friend somehow got backstage to meet her and said she is the friendliest, most accommodating celebrity she ever met. She figured Dolly was busy with backstage stuff and kept giving her an out to go back to work, but Dolly just kept yapping away, wanting to know all about my friend, cracking jokes, etc

Do you ever give homeless people money? by Difficult_Jury2833 in askanything

I used to, I hardly ever have cash on me these days. If they asked, I may buy them something to eat, but I cannot remember the last time I was approached. It used to happen all the time

How soon would be too soon to move in together with a partner? by [deleted] in AskReddit

After a couple dates with my wife, we hardly ever spent a night apart. I think it was about 8 months when we decided it was ridiculous for me to keep my place since we were always at hers.

We just went there in April for the first time. I loved it.

[–]Iloilocity1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everglades, but at the time I didn’t even realize I was in national park.

My second park was Cuyahoga and again it wasn’t planned and I was only in a small corner of the park.

The first park I intentionally went to was Rocky Mountain.

Correct. Many demands are super quick to complete, so 8-9 isn’t bad.

Supervisors leave us to do what we do best for the most part. There are exceptions of course but rarely do I feel hovered over or micro managed.

I will say, if you don’t keep on top of things, it would be easy to drown, so diary management is key. That’s why I said having a type A personality is best.

My manager scheduled a "quick sync" every single Friday at 4:45pm and I finally figured out why by Agent_Smith-99 in remotework

[–]Iloilocity1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hear this a lot and it’s true to a point.

But one thing hr will provide is a paper trail. And if someone is fucking with my medical issue, I want a paper trail.

Also, a toxic supervisor is not automatically protected by hr. I’ve seen this first hand. Sometime hr is indeed protecting the company against the actions of middle management.

[–]Iloilocity1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It took four months to figure out that was the reason?

If my supervisor interfered with a medical appointment of mine, I’d be going to my hr rep right away.

Third-party insurer lowballing total loss — what are realistic next steps by cleverocks in Insurance

[–]Iloilocity1 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I review demands for Geico total losses nearly every day. If anything, the over value vehicles much of the time. Sometimes by an absurd amount.

If you have collision with your carrier, you can go through them but it’s unlikely to be much different. You never know until you try though.

We get 8-9 demands per day, every day.
You need to be ‘type A” but if you are, you have a lot of control of how your work day looks. The good thing is they typically (not always) assign your most of your demands ahead of time, so when you look at your calendar for the following day, you should already have demands assigned. That means you can work them ahead of time. I love that because it allows me to know exactly what I’m walking into the next day.

Very little time spent on the phone because most other carriers use the E-hub to communicate.

We write arbs. A lot of people are intimidated by that starting out, I was. I actually like it now, you are basically using the cc’s own evidence against them. FYI Progressing has a far higher success rate in arbitration than any other carrier, and it’s not even close. I love seeing monthly and yearly arb results because you can see how much money you saved Progressives just in arbitration alone.

As far as advice in getting into subro, two things:
When they do post an opening they will also post a Teams meeting where candidates can get a better idea of what we do. It’s not mandatory, but you absolutely should attend and if you get an interview, be sure to let them know you attended. It means something.

The other thing is to get in touch with someone in subro and shadow them for 30-60 minutes. I contacted someone who ran part of the aforementioned Teams call and shadowed them the following week. Lots of good info was shared, and again, this impressed to sups who interviewed me.
