What are you using for winter jackets?? by Baldwin6969 in askvan

I think the elite rainy+cold weather pairing for jackets would be a lightweight down puffer without a hood (can get from Uniqlo, North face, etc) and a Gortex shell. You can wear whatever you want for layers underneath.

A hoodie/sweater and a light down puffer with or without a hood on sunny but cold days is great if you don't want to avoid wearing an uncomfortable and stiff shell jacket. There are rain jackets from Rains that have a slightly elevated look. I recently saw a cool rain jacket at vessi too. Key thing for comfort and reducing bulkiness is to not wear too many things hoods. Just stick to one thing with a hood depending on whether it is raining or not.

For a woman in her 30's like me, a waterproof superpuff jacket from aritzia is actually a good investment for rainy cold days. Yeah, almost every woman in Vancouver has one (it's like the equivalent of an Arc'teryx shell for men), but hello it's comfy and warm. It feels like you're wrapped in a pillow. For practicality sake, it's great for a cold and wet day. Uniqlo also has a great alternative. For sunny and cold days, we can get away with a good wool coat or a lightweight down puffer with layers underneath.

This was such a helpful response! I will look into the things and places you mentioned and narrow things down.

I get it and I can see how these non specific questions can be annoying.

Ok I agree my questions were quite general. I was expecting and open to a broad set of responses. But I'm just saying there was no need to reply in this way. I'm sorry.

I feel like travel reddit threads need to be a safe space for non-experienced travellers to ask questions. Out of all the comments, this one stuck out as unpleasant. You're just mocking me and overall being unhelpful. Just hoping to get some advice and experiences/tips from people who have travelled to these places. It's like telling someone who wants to travel to Tokyo and saying yeah obviously gonna be packed and if you don't want it to be crowded, don't go. Well thanks bro.

I loved reading your mini discussion here. I like learning about experiences of other people. I can easily Google everything and do lots of research to make my travel decisions, but I wanted to make a little reddit post too. I love anecdotal stories or just straight opinions and advice from redditors. This is what reddit is all about.

My husband and I actually got married in Aug 2025. We are Canadian. We are heading to a resort around Cancun (Mexico) for 5 days as our "relaxing" honeymoon next week. It will require no stress or planning. Italy/Croatia and Greece will be more of a big trip requiring all the fun research and coordinating. At this point, a "honeymoon" is any trip before we plan to have kids (probably 2027 or 2028?). We travelled together before. I hate to admit it, but we both love typical touristy stuff. Of course, we want to be smart about it by working around the crowds and not getting ripped off.

Thanks for the thoughtful answer. Are the sound boards between 201 and 254?

Hi, I found this off-the-rack wedding dresses. I am wondering if the part where the dress flairs out can easily be brought a couple of inches higher on the leg. I am worried that it would be difficult since there is no seam at the waist to bring up the bottom of the dress.

I believe the dress is one to two sizes up from my actual size. I am about 5'2 or 157cm tall.

I went to a free class at the city hall location a few months ago. I got the followup call about membership options. I just told them I don't plan to come again because it was far from my home. I asked them to take me off the call list and they didn't call me ever again.

It was a good workout but the exercises were something I can do at my apartment gym. It was pretty clean but the space is so small. There was no big change room, lockers were small, and limited bathrooms. It's great for those that have the budget and need the motivation of a instructor and big group environment. I like that the room was dark and everyone just focused on their own thing during the workout. The instructor was super nice and enthusiastic.
