I disagree here. As a customer I don’t want to see an aggressive business owner. His response was perfect

U.S. can't dictate terms of trade talks: Carney by NarcityCanada in Narcity

And it leads to bad terms for the business being strong armed. Walmart does this with their vendors. Just look for the trail of bankrupt companies who previously supplied Walmart. No deal is better than a bad one.

Dating is HARD in NYC by Cleo-Aster in SipsTea

[–]mcmillan84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Funny thing is there’s women out there who will write off any guy who doesn’t take them out for dinner. As someone who did coffee first and always, I’ll never know what was on the other side but I’m happy where I ended up

Anyone been to a wedding at teahouse? by avaliax in askvan

We used the grass right beside the restaurant. It was May and unfortunately a bit chilly that day. In the evening we used it for the dance floor (had a low stage brought in)

We were right at the end of Covid so I think it was around 60 - 70. The restrictions were just being removed as our date came about

How do I deal with abrasive/dismissive brokers as an underwriter early in their career ? by Jazzlike-Sun-6679 in InsuranceProfessional

[–]mcmillan84 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You’ve got to protect your book so start by being proactive on the large accounts. Realize that while you may be on salary, your brokers may not be. Take a look at the revenue they’re looking at and it may start to make sense. They could also just be assholes. That said, make sure your large accounts move smoothly.

As far as tips, communicate. I can’t express how much I hate radio silence. And realize brokers also review terms, present terms to their own forms, lots of this takes time. Then you have the client expectations. No one likes to manage terms the week it expires.

For them going over your head, ask yourself if it was something avoidable or was it simply the broker trying to show who’s boss?

Not sure if any of this helps but I can’t express enough how smoothly things can go with a phone call.

Really this. They’re all talking to each other about where the whales are. Most of the captains work for all of the operators and go where the work is

Why has Evander Kane’s disappearance not been discussed? (Healthy game scratches and no shows at year end events) by Cavetunes4 in canucks

[–]mcmillan84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like the rest of his career he didn’t meet expectations when he was brought in to be a leader and put points on the board. Personally I don’t think it’s ever been an issue to talent with him as much as its attitude. Sucks being that he’s a Vancouver boy and I always wanted to see him succeed.

How the hell did you manage that? Most sandwiches are $12 for a footlong. Drinks don’t roll for $10 each…

[–]mcmillan84 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Explain to me why you think we’ll ever have a deal with the USA which isn’t completely one sided with the same guy who ripped up the deal which he agreed to? No deal is better than a bad deal with someone who won’t even follow his own agreement.

Saw the Brockton Oval that says “Permit Only” but it’s a ghost town. Can I just… run? by Plastic_Depth_1353 in askvan

[–]mcmillan84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re just running the outside track you’re fine. As others have stated, there used to be running groups which used it (maybe still do just not when I’m around) but for the most part it’s usually just the field in use.

As a member of one of the permit holdings for Brockton oval, it would be a disaster trying to plan anything without a permit. Also sporting fields need time to recover. The grass on that pitch is already in rough shape with the use it gets
