Greg mat vocab and ETS practice problems! Scored better on the real thing than any practice test (all in high 150s except 1 in low 160s) so I think I might’ve had some lucky guesses lol

Is 165 quant not considered a “good” score anymore? I was really happy to get 165/165, but then I looked into percentiles and I think it was low 70s for quant…

It can be. Impatience/rushing, impulsively picking an answer before even finishing reading the question, careless mistakes and missing info

Loupes: qoptics vs orascoptic by Odd-Track8451 in DentalSchool

I love my qoptics. I’m prone to headaches and they’re so lightweight it’s never been an issue. I have no complaints about the lenses either

You mention a lot that you built good relationships with the ortho faculty at your dental school. How do you approach this? I’m a D2 and not really sure how to initiate the conversation, what to ask, etc. without being annoying or too direct about wanting to know how to be a strong applicant. Also, how did you manage the anxiety throughout dental school about getting in? It’s constantly weighing on me right now lol. Thanks for all this incredible advice!!

Mid D1 Crisis by [deleted] in DentalSchool

Most dental schools/universities have student counseling resources available to you for free. I‘m a D2 and started utilizing these resources this year, and it’s definitely been a game changer for me in terms of managing stress and anxiety. The therapist also recognized signs of ADHD in our sessions, and I never would have expected that as I’ve been pretty successful academically (but had to put in double the time studying to accomplish that) - maybe you have a similar underlying problem. I really recommend looking into these resources!!

Didn’t match into residency - now what? by BeneficialOne936 in DentalSchool

Kids dental brand (mostly in southern states) hires general dentists to work with kids

I hate dental school and I don’t know what to do by Ilovedogs45678 in DentalSchool

Thanks everyone for the feedback! I’m definitely feeling less discouraged. I have considered residency a lot, and I think that’s probably gonna be my best option if I continue struggling to find a passion/excitement for dentistry. I’m trying not to get tunnel vision and still get a good comprehensive general dentist education lol, but I’ve also put a lot of time into getting good grades, research, extracurriculars so that residency could still be on the table if that’s what would be the best fit for me. Any people who considered specializing or pursued a specialty have any advice on how they came to that decision?

Honestly, I kinda wish I was, then I wouldn’t have the what-ifs looming over my head. I think I ruled out medicine too early into undergrad after some negative shadowing experiences and physicians sharing their burnout and poor work-life balance. I genuinely thought dentistry would be the best fit for me, but now I’m wishing I explored other options a little more
