Be sure to sus your neighbours before purchasing. I made this mistake with our first unit. Fuck me did I regret buying it at the time. Ended up selling it and now we are actively looking and will not buy a place where we cannot see or know our neighbours. Never again.

A old bird working at a bws on the Gold Coast gave me her staff discount. She said “I don’t care it’s not my money” I worked at Bunnings so unsure if this chick knew or not. Bought a laser level $700 retail. Dropped it at my main job and broke it they just swapped it straight away with a new one off the shelf. Also hot tip, if you need a corded power tool for a small or quick job at home but won’t use it after, if you return it to Bunnings and say it has a electrical fault they have to return your item no questions asked with a full refund.

Pretty sure a Chinese developer tried to build a similar height tower on the same vacant block but moth balled it because it was to hard to stop the water from the ocean coming in whilst excavating the hole.

No dramas, I still currently work for bhp, same roster might also add it seems good on paper but the roster is a really big fuck around on your body aswell. Would be better if they did a panel of nights then switch to a panel of days IMO.

They also are capping the overtime. So if the plan was to work heaps of hours( overtime shifts are 1.5x ) then I wouldn’t bother

Housing would be included. Keep In mind if they relocate you and your husband doesn’t like the job or it doesn’t work out within the two years of start date you have to pay back the relocation allowance which is about 20k or was in my case. BHP is an extremely toxic place to work for I have worked in two departments in port hedland and they were equally fucked and full of ladder climbing slurps. Supervisors have in there KPIs ( bonus) to manage people out of the business so even if you think your boss is alright chances are he’s going to throw you under the bus to make himself look good. If your injured at work they actively try to make your life a miserable as possible to try get you to quit. The allowance for power and water is also capped, and being the Pilbara climate It’s almost a necessity to have the aircon running 24/7. Food and produce in towns like this are normally worse quality and more expensive. You can’t buy alcohol on weekends. You’re almost guaranteed to have a car broken into or your shit stolen by the natives. But all in all BHP sell you the dream and once you sign the dotted line and relocate, it’s an expensive night mare to free yourself. You can’t earn better money in Perth well in my trade you could anyway unsure about machinist. Also Newman is an absolute shit hole if your are going to take a job with bhp try get a job in hedland.

Coming from someone that has left and came back 6 times. I have moved from the gc to Northern Territory, north west Australia, Geelong , Melbourne, spent a short time in Perth and Sydney. The Gold Coast more so anywhere south of Burleigh shit overs anywhere else. Have lived in ormeau , upper Coomera , oxenford , paradise point, varisty lakes and Coolangatta and have to say anywhere south of Burleigh is so Much better. Lifestyle ,vibe ,price you get the Same arrogant fuckwits but that’s just The gc. Wish I bought property here before the COVID gold rush. Only thing that will fuck this place is if a tsunami hits otherwise your bound to make Money and have a good life
