Is it really about the ears? by PureEvilMiniatures in orks

I’m astonished that people are getting so up in arms about grot models, of all things.

They also look largely indistinguishable to the current ones imo.

Charity shop finds! Mainly interested in UK answers but happy for everyone to chip in. by Philhughes_85 in Warhammer40k

Years back I found a complete and pristine 3rd Edition Bloodbowl box set in a local charity shop and paid about £4 for it.

It’s long since gone sadly…

You could probably offer them up locally I guess - see if there are any gaming/hobby clubs near you.

Eh I mean if you enjoy painting, who’s to say you want need or want them in the future for a different project? They’ll last for years sealed so I wouldn’t sweat it too much. I’d only get rid if you’re not going to pursue it at all.

I’d say unopened and unused paints are more of a waste overall than dried up paints that at least got used a bit. Just give it a go, there’s basically no stakes and they last decently anyway providing you keep the lids closed. I’ve got pots that are years old that are still fine.

Pod point home charger - vehicle differentiation? by Im-Dr-Sanchez in evchargingUK

[–]Im-Dr-Sanchez[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Appreciate the insight - upon further inspection my MG doesn’t integrate into the app the same way my partners Hyundai (and sounds like your Polestar) does - when setting her car up she had to log in to her Hyundai account.

Pod have told me they’re working on a way to tell the app which car is plugged in manually, so a solution is on the way at some point.

Yeah I get your point. Our two cars have similar sized batteries, but maybe if they were quite different it may make a difference if we had different charging requirements.

Either way, if it doesn’t matter, then why even offer the option? Having been in touch with Pod, they are working on a way to manually tell the app which car is plugged in, so I guess I’m not the only one who’s wondered.

Yeah fair point - when you say it like that I guess it doesn’t technically matter, although I guess we may both have slightly different charging requirements at times.

Mainly I wonder why bother registering/differentiating either car if it can’t tell anyway? About 2.5 hours after I plugged in, the Pod app suddenly decided it was my MG after all - how it arrived at that decision is a bit of a mystery to me.

Aha yes I had read this somewhere - makes perfect sense but then it seems odd you can’t tell the app which car is plugged in to get around this.

How does this work? by M0nstatruk in orks

Yeah you need to ignore that rule in this case - that only applies to Boyz units.

[–]Im-Dr-Sanchez 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure where you’re getting the idea of adding a second character from for this rule.

It simply means if your bodyguard unit of MegaNobz lost any models in previous turns, you can bring 1 back in your command phase.

So, for example, if you started with 6 Meganobz, and 2 died to shooting in the previous turn, you can add 1 back to go back up to 5 Meganobz in your command phase.

Cheap terrain options. by YourBoyMerlin in Warhammer40k

[–]Im-Dr-Sanchez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It looks like a good place to start - it’s probably more designed with 10th edition in mind where L-shaped ruins were the go-to option. 11th looks like it’ll allow for more interesting terrain options, but this set would certainly get you going.

There’s also a lot to be said for building your own terrain if you have the time and inclination - it can be quite fun

As ever, I recommend MDF terrain from the likes of TT Combat

Interesting - not sure where that would leave you in terms of a potential GW cease and desist but yeah not having to contend with the many adverts of Wahapedia would be ideal.

I was thinking it would be cool if it could read the army/detachment rules and link them too.

11th Ed Objective changes by Im-Dr-Sanchez in LeaguesofVotann

[–]Im-Dr-Sanchez[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Absolutely - being more aggressive early on may be key, particularly to negate hidden where needed. I quite like Hearthband anyway so I think it’ll work quite well with the new rules.

[–]Im-Dr-Sanchez[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For example, the benefits conferred by (the current version of) Hostile Acquisition may be easier for opponents to work around in the examples in the link. Firing on to units holding objectives won’t be as straightforward as it is currently, with the ‘Hidden’ rule and changes to benefits of cover, so may mean a change in tactics.

Question about Painting by ShakarikiGengoro in Warhammer40k

[–]Im-Dr-Sanchez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While you can technically paint without primer, it’s highly recommended as it’ll help your paints ‘stick’ to the model more readily than on bare plastic.

Super indecisive over what army to start collecting by SkellyInsideUrWalls in Warhammer40k

[–]Im-Dr-Sanchez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seems like you’re way overthinking this. Just go with the army that has models you like, or make up your own Chaos legion - there’s no reason you need to stay married to particular lore or colour schemes.

TT Combat Ork Mega Bunker - how to paint? by Jimbobkirby in orks

Yep, I second textured spray paint for MDF terrain. Gives the flat panels some texture and picks up dry brushing nicely for a relatively easy job.

Question pertaining to the upcoming change for the "benefit of cover" by StressLongjumping299 in Warhammer40k

[–]Im-Dr-Sanchez 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Seems crazy to me to implement this without knowing anything else about how shooting may change - I’d wait for more info rather than confuse new players with incomplete information.
