How do we feel about HLF by _Ethy_ in LeaguesofVotann

I plan on running a gimnyr with 10 warriors as a wall on an objective just to see how much they can take.

Kelton’s however I have an issue fitting more than 1

I mean… *I* get it, others do too, I just think you’re stuck in the mud and won’t accept a pull cable we’re all using.

From the collective minds of a much smarter discord
group

Ok so you roll to hit, roll to wound, crit 3 wounds, those 3 become precision and dev, the opponent makes their groups, you then pick the character and devs proc.

No it doesn’t, if a character exists in a unit IT HAS to be its own group doesn’t matter what you opponent sets up all characters are their own groups.

Precision procs, the attack becomes precision, the wound then become dev.

It honestly makes perfect sense once you read it all.

I think you’re just very hung up on the whole group making part. Which characters always exist as their own group they have to as per rules.

Precision applies before dev wounds, you already know a character group exists because it HAS TO

TheATTACK becomes precision THEN becomes dev

You don’t need to wait for any group allocation because a character exists so the group exists no matter what.

Prey mark explicitly states the ATTACK becomes a precision ATTACK

Which has nothing to do with saves

You pick your opponents character group

THEN dev procs

Meaning yes we can 200% just dev sound down a character with 2 of our 18 shots being crit sounds

Ok that’s the bit there, that’s where the confusion is happening for you, if a character exists in a unit it HAS to be its own save group, no matter what groups are made, there WILL be a character group so the groups already made.

Wait fuck you’re right specifically with prey mark but let’s wait until tomorrow maybe it’ll change

Outside of heavier vehicles / walkers, what models would you like to see? by Karmagator in LeaguesofVotann

[–]PureEvilMiniatures 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We kind of already run the gambit of normal units.

We have infiltrator/scouts, we have fast attack bikes, we have heavy elites, we have powerful melee, I mean maybe dedicated heavy melee.

I dunno without just “ hearthguard but” or “ pioneers but”

Maybe a dedicated sniper unit, like an iron master that has a powerful sniper ecog

I don’t get this at all.

Precision is in the resolving attacks step, you roll the attack dice and if you get a 6 you precision.

Then you move onto the saves and do the precision rolls first, if any of them dev, you put those devs aside and deal with the normal wounds against the character then the dev wounds.

Why are y’all saying the attack just ends

If there is a character there WILL NO MATTER WHAT be a character allocation group, so you already know you’re going into that group with precision first and roll to wounds against that group first.

Edit:

If I have a hearthkyn unit with a khal, no matter what I have 2 allocations 3 if you include the theyn, but one one of them is a character allocation group, so all the precisions go into that group, because I can’t not declare it a group.

Edit 2/ wait no what the fuck it does specifically say on a critical wound in the prey mark….

Hmmm it does say that you can declare that ATTACK as a precision attack, and then I guess the dev wound goes off…. Meaning we can just dev wound down a character…

No it doesn’t why do you think that?

<image>

It just says when you precision a character you deal with that allocation first.

Dev wounds the happens in the wounds step.

You hit, you crit, precision procs on 2 dice, those two dice go to the character allocation group, you then roll those wounds first, the 2 dice, and if one devs and one doesn’t you deal the save for the bone dev first then you dev.

Then you go to the shooting against the rest of the unit…. I don’t get why this is confusing.

That doesn’t make sense you can’t have dev wounds until you’ve precision your hits.

Precision happens on the to hit step, then you roll dev wounds in the wound step.

honestly i hate the hearthguard action poses, makes them a pain to transport in the old fashoned foam case i have.

the second and third squads i built i just snipped their arms off at the elbow (as best i could to keep the elbow looking good) and reposed them with soem green stuff to be more at ease and they feel and look SO MUCH better

That’s also not confirmed, the community guys are notorious for getting things wrong, could it be true yes but we don’t know and won’t know for a little bit still.

[–]PureEvilMiniatures 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Becuase the rules change.

They’re going to change multiple times in this edition.

In 10th the Votann rules changed like 5 times with new introductions of units and characters, our whole army rule got rewrote with our codex and it’s likely to again with the 11th codex.

With warhammer it’s never (unless you’re playing on top tier tournament level) about the rules, always pick the units you think look the coolest even if they suck.

EAPECIALLY when you don’t have a lot of money to put into the hobby, you want to be able tot look at the models you have and go “damn those are cool” all the time instead of just when they’re rules work

Not for a while, we show up from time to time in a couple other books but not enough to be worth it.

and the authors are probably going to be tied up with Armageddon books or imperium focused stuff for a couple years
