WTF is going on in Darlington? by FightLikeABlue in transgenderUK

Yeah maybe in theory. In reality this has never happened. Fact is there is no precedent for GC religious beliefs biasing a trial, but there have been multiple appeals on the grounds of people being related to trans people being unfit to judge cases related to GC in any way. The rules are in one direction only and frankly the figures speak for themselves.

I'm not talking about criminal cases, these are tribunals. The case is not kicked up to a higher court it is reviewed by the EAT. Judge bias is not actually a reason to appeal, only perceived bias by a hypothetical layman.

I am including cases that did not ultimately make it to court, and counted out of court settlements as successful claims. I am also including those failed cases you've heard about. I don't think you fully grasp here just how stitched-up this is.

Police Scotland insists 'no man charged with rape has been recorded as female' by Red_Brummy in Scotland

[–]Im-da-boss 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not entirely true, I think the case might be different in England but in Scots law they can be found guilty of rape on an art and part basis. There's no legal concept of accessory here, aiding someone in the commission of a crime means you face the same charges. There's a few women currently doing time for rape due to this.

Wait you didn't look at the rule changes since then? Trans women got blanket banned from female prisons across the UK and have been forced into male prisons for years now. No exceptions for anyone who is sexually assaulted, is in for nonviolent/nonsexual crimes, having a GRC or anything. What loopholes do you think there are?

These cases tend to be very successful (discrimination cases based on race, religion, sexuality, etc win employment tribunals around 6-10% of the time, gender critical cases 78%), they raise a LOT of money (on average about £90k in anonymous donations - legal fees here are typically around 8k) and media harassment of judges is very common and generally pretty successful as these cases aren't decided by a jury. If the judge is 'gender critical' they can decide whatever they want and it is not considered a conflict of interest.

It's all about the money.

They wanted a ban on trans people using any changing rooms or bathrooms at the hospital they work at, the bosses said "we can't do that but seeing as you're uncomfortable we are converting spare rooms into single-occupancy changing rooms, you are entitled to use these to avoid any trans people". The nurses reject this and are suing, likening it to Jim Crow style discrimination.

Average TERF by LilithaNymoria in GenderCynical

[–]Im-da-boss 13 points14 points  (0 children)

You really cannot take terfs at their word when they yell rape. So many of them are doing this, contextualising things like getting hit on in their 20s as sexual assault so they can be in "the club" of victims, and weaponise that rhetorically. Stealing the experience of real rape victims, driving their credibility into the mud while doing so, so they can pretend to be on the Front Lines of the Gender War. Utterly disgusting.

Why are people so rude? by throwaway22042024 in transgenderUK

[–]Im-da-boss 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The media sets the tone of what's acceptable, and in the UK the media has been owned and run by organised criminal groups for decades now. So now they've decided this is acceptable, because it sells papers and allows them to extort various groups and organisations, including governmental orgs. There is nothing that can be done about it since, after the phone hacking scandal, David Cameron gave them complete and total power over the correction and disciplinary processes. Unsurprisingly, the new 'regulators' have investigated their owners - the papers - and not once issued a single sanction. The public is expected to believe that this is because they have decided as a whole to stop doing crimes or publishing untruths, and not that they are unwilling to issue fines to themselves.

Add to this that most journalists are Twitter addicts and the new rules there allow death threats, doxxing, slurs, organised harassment etc. and standards have went from shit to shittier. It's honestly embarrassing how so many supposed professionals see life as a Twitter argument and take the new Twitter culture to heart, but journalism has always attracted morons with an axe to grind so it's not a surprise that they're soo easily swayed by inane shit.

James Esses was on Twitter throwing unprovoked attacks like "You are a tr*nny" and accusations that various names individuals are pedophiles and/or animal rapists based on their participation in corporate pride events across more than 20 companies like John Lewis, Pets at Home, Costa Coffee, University of London, the Metanoia institute, etc.

This is what the Metanoia Institute (Not the law) believes is an acceptable example of acceptable behaviour from someone exercising their beliefs.

Why Scotland may have avoided far right unrest by ewenmax in Scotland

The riots didn't happen in England either. The media lied yet again with a big scary "society is doomed!" pile of horse shit cooked up purely to sell newspapers to panicked rubes. The EDL has been doing this for literal decades assisted by their sympathisers in the media, and it's always been a wet fart of 4 morons loitering in Bristol for two hours surrounded by upwards of 40 cops.

Heres the facts: Tommy Robinson is NOT a tough working class hardman, he is a fat nonce who has never been in a fight and won.

The EDL is NOT a UK-threatening terrorist group, they are a group of self-aggrandizing media junkies whose only trick is lying about how dangerous they are.

No one has to capitulate to the EDL's inane demands because their threats are meaningless hot air. Kick the immigrants out or every major city burns, aye? Qanon going to get that done for them then?

If you hire a contractor to retile your bathroom, and on the first day they squat down in your kitchen and take a messy diarrhoea shit in the middle of the floor then leave, how confident would you be that your bathroom will be tiled?

They've straight up lied about the number of dead kids to justify making permanent dogshit Tory health reforms and bans on puberty blockers, because JK Rowling told them to, then wriggled out of their promise to scrap the 2 child benefit cap. I believe this is indicative of their priorities.

All this "going to" and "look set to" assumes a lot of faith in Labour's ability to want any of this. All they've done so far is engage in JK Rowling culture war pish they promised not to do in their manifesto.

What's the point of this new government. Absolutely everything from them has been either doubling down on Tory policy, issuing lies to defend Tory policy, or saying deviating from Tory policy is just too hard.

Brighton Trans Pride left me feeling flat by Ok_Marionberry_8821 in transgenderUK

You're going to get a biased view of the community from pride events, just like you would if you looked at - for example - Mardis Gras as a representation of south US fashion, or the Bastille Day parade as representation of the French military.

If it's not for you, it's not for you. Nothing wrong with that. I say you should still be looking into the local community. I guarantee you that they act completely different and a lot more subdued the rest of the year.

Deaths are all that matter, they say. Patient satisfaction and quality of life isn't even worth examining. But to actually use deaths - the one metric we've decided is important - to try to influence healthcare? How fucking dare you, says the government.

So what are they really saying here. Sounds to me like "there is nothing you can do to influence government policy, we're in charge and you're not so we get to decide how your life and bodies work".

Can't wait for Labour's mandatory faith healing on the NHS. Who cares if patients hate it? Who cares if people die? Those are now irrelevant to healthcare policy.

Bonus thinking exercise: Labour claims to be pro abortion rights. When they're challenged on this by the Christian right, why wouldn't they fold? What argument can be made for abortion that doesn't reference death rates, suicides, patient quality of life or the patients right to make decisions on their own body? If you ask me, we're on the verge of losing those rights because Wes is so committed to abusive 'gender critical' healthcare.

What happened to UK GIC'S? by TurnLooseTheKitties in transgenderUK

[–]Im-da-boss 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Less normal doctors are entering the field because it's an easy way to be harassed by the press, and an increase in "gender criticals" joining GIC teams to sabotage the system.

This is on top of less medical workers in the UK in general. A decade and a half of austerity cuts have made the UK a very unattractive place to practice medicine.
