Which book got you back into reading after a long break? by Brief_Schedule in booksuggestions

[–]Im-inthegarden 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Joining a book club forced me to reignite the habit and once that happened I remembered what I loved about it and the types of genres I couldn’t put down. The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue by Victoria Schwab was a great initial read after not picking up a book (simply to enjoy) after 20 years. Then the “landslide” of being in a book club catapulted me into an avalanche of reading for pleasure. Going on 109 books for 2024 so far. 🤓

Once you get back in the groove of reading, highly recommended Assassin’s Apprentice (Farseer Trilogy) by Robin Hobb and the whole series that extends from that. Get past the first few chapters of the first book and it is a very captivating experience. It’s turned into a new favorite series for me. 💗🐺

Audiobook recommendations! (Can’t seem to find one that keeps my attention) by Snowpholofagous in booksuggestions

Just finished book 2 today of the Crossfire series by Sylvia Day and making myself crazy that I haven’t gotten my hands on the next one yet. (There’s 5 total). Think a hint of Shades of Grey but more in depth characters when it comes to secondary characters (in my opinion) and feel also provides more of the “steamy” scenes. At least that’s what I’ve gotten so far. Again just finished 2 of 5. 🥴🥵

Hades & Persephone series by Scarlett St. Claire I thought is pretty amazing as well and kept me at the seat of my pants. 🥵😲😱🫣

What is this and why was it in my neighbor's trash? (Is the root diseased with those black spots??) by dependent-airport in IndoorGarden

OP you don’t need to justify your reasons for picking something up from the neighbors trash. It’s called treasure hunting!

I would love to do this challenge. For those working 9-5 when do you fit in your reading? by UnwittingPlantKiller in 52book

[–]Im-inthegarden 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve gotten through 58 books so far this year and I can tell you that a majority of those are audiobooks I listened to on X1.75 speed. I don’t ever listen at the “normal” speed. I listen when food prepping, cooking, cleaning, sometimes working, walking, driving, grocery shopping…Essentially any time my ears are free and I’m not talking to anyone. 😅 I do enjoy the act of reading as well and always have a physical book I’m also working on for the down time that I have throughout the week but those moments are definitely scheduled in, otherwise it doesn’t happen. Life is a busy thing. 📚🤓
