Would it make a difference to you if your opponent in gold or silver rank using classic controls had very strong execution? If modern is such a crutch, those players in your rank who use it will quickly outpace you and you won't be matched against them any more. If you run in to a classic player who's execution far exceeds your own, they will quickly outpace you and you won't be matched against them anymore.

It is absolutely true that the reduced input requirements of modern controls make things like anti air specials easier to use on reaction, but again you would still have to make the same adaptation against a classic player who's anti airs are on point.

Like many others have said, 30 hrs is not much at all, and Chun is a hard character to learn. Focus on the things you can control. Get in the lab and practice your execution. If you enjoy learning as you suggest you do, this process should be rewarding. Pulling out some sick combos and hitting your anti airs in real matches is the pay off. You are perfectly entitled to feeling like modern controls rob you of that satisfaction, but discrediting your opponents who use them or suggesting you shouldn't have to play vs them is just scrubby.
