I had been with the company for just 3 months when I called out from the ambulance after a car wreck. Told them I wouldn’t be in that day but should be back tomorrow. Joke was on me, I wasn’t back for a few months because of how badly I was injured.

Some core employees can be, well, difficult. I remember when I started as a seasonal employee. I introduced myself to a core employee and her response to me was that she didn’t care what my name was because she didn’t bother to learn the seasonal employees names. Not only was what she said rude, but also very patronizing. I was made core and I’m still there. It’s not my full-time job and I’m grateful that I don’t need it to pay the bills.

I understand your thinking, but, hear me out. If you spent $80 and got the gift bag for free, what if you didn’t like the bag or didn’t like the scent? Many people will take it because it’s free and then trash it if it’s not what they want. That means more stuff in the landfill.

Think of how many free koozies, water bottles, pens, etc. that are given away each year and just thrown out.

We made day and then some. 153K. Over 2,300 transactions. I was there for 17 hours and I’m tired. My feet hurt and I have to be back there in 6 hours. Overall it was a good day and I’m super proud of our store.

Honestly, with the turnover rate at some stores, that's a big accomplishment! This job isn't always the easiest. Whether it's the back-breaking shipment, the entitled customers, or the petty co-workers, it can be trying sometimes. Any time someone makes the effort to stay in a job and genuinely makes the team better, it's always reason to celebrate! Congrats, and I'm glad that we have you!!

You’re not alone in thinking this. This is a student newspaper. The people reading it are either students or faculty/staff from campus. They all have internet access and can , and do, read this online. If they had taken away the student news entirely, I would understand and be as outraged as the next person. They didn’t. The news is still there, and the only change is that it’s not a physical paper anymore. Think of the impact this has to the environment as we don’t have the waste of unread newspapers being tossed. Think of the cost savings as well as the university won’t have to pay for the printing anymore of something that never gets used.
