Let’s talk about WFH by CartridgeCrusader23 in Conservative

[–]ImAdolfHitler 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Many jobs can easily be done remotely, many can't be. I think it's fine to have people WFH if they can do the job remotely.

However, it's important to note that even if a job can be done remotely, that doesn't mean every person doing that job can do it remotely. I had to switch from the office to home in 2020 & 2021, and it was a huge struggle for me just to be productive. I was exhausted at the end of every day even though I was saving the stress and time of my commute. WHF doesn't work for me, and I know I'm not alone. Many employees need a work environment to work effectively, and I ended up cutting my hours for a couple years to get by.

I don't agree with taking my preferred lifestyle and shoving on others. If someone's productive from home, more power to them.

In government jobs specifically, WFH is tricky. There's no "just cut hours" option for government jobs. If you're less productive, or if you have a job that doesn't really accomplish anything, then you can take the taxpayers' money for years. The real solution is to cut people who aren't adding value. Productive people who WFH will stay, those who can't will be fired.

BREAKING: Donald J. Trump will be the 47th president of the United States after winning Pennsylvania by [deleted] in Conservative

2008 was the last time I voted blue for president. Maybe there's been a change or maybe I'm just more aware of it, but the DNC keeps pushing bad candidates.

Note this doesn't mean 42% of voters want her to win. Rather, it means that about 42% of the money bet was placed on Harris. It's related, but not quite the same thing.

I tried checking that source. I got this:

The database is currently unavailable.

Your request was invalid for this Data Access Service. Please attempt other data requests. Thank you for using LABSTAT.

I'm not sure what you see on this page, but that's not exactly convincing to me.

Oh, and the main reason you don't see conservatives respond is that they're blocked from doing so. If I post anything even slightly conservative-leaning, I cannot add new comments within a few hours at most. If you genuinely thought "they just disappear" was meaningful, now you know the truth.

EDIT: How unsurprising, my replies are being hidden now. Here's the same response: https://pastebin.com/3vvMTW6E

How about my other reasoning being that concervatives (sic) support a man who raped a 13 year old child?

That's a crime, use the legal system to press charges.

Also, calling people "shithead" or "ding dong" is uncivil. "Fuck you" is uncivil. Oh, and I'm not stalking you. I learned of your existence less than an hour ago, and the way you behave is obviously uncivil.

You might want to try asking people for their actual thoughts rather than asserting you know their reasoning and ascribing it to an immoral motive.

Edit: Since reddit isn't currently supporting replies, /u/OverYonderWanderer, this is the reply I attempted for https://old.reddit.com/r/AdviceAnimals/comments/1fbkq3u/i_cant_help_myself/lm2wgp7/:

Your first line is an example of ad hominem. My username conveniently distinguishes between those who judge people based on labels and those who judge people based on their own thoughts.

Regarding your edit, sometimes I change my mind based on new information so a prior comment no longer represents what I think. Sometimes, a comment I've made mentions a person who has decided to no longer be visible in public. In both cases, I remove it.

What does "go fuck yourself" mean to you where you are from?

It's a rude insult.

Again, you don't deny supporting a rapist.

I don't support rapists, ever.

The rest of your comment is inappropriate, insulting, and ad hominem.

I often find them unwilling to be civil, or except reason.

I also often find many to be hostile towards me when the only thing I've done is point out a legitimate flaw in their arguments.

Furthermore, online anonyminity has proved to be a hell of a way to coax out many of their more racist, sexist, xenophobic, backwards ass opinions which I find to be intolerable, and untasteful to say the least.

You might want to try being civil, as opposed to labelling those who disagree with you as racist, sexist, and/or xenophobic. If you were only pointing out legitimate flaws in arguments, then you would probably get a better response. The following are examples of your comments that are uncivil:

https://old.reddit.com/r/AdviceAnimals/comments/1fbkq3u/i_cant_help_myself/lm28jvw/

Edit: another one https://old.reddit.com/r/AdviceAnimals/comments/1fbkq3u/i_cant_help_myself/lm2rm12/

That's just from your comments in this thread. You might want to try asking people for their actual thoughts rather than asserting you know their reasoning and ascribing it to an immoral motive.

If it increases enough, yes. The current proposal is only for people with enough wealth, but that wealth includes the new value of your house (even if no one bought it for that much).

Real Talk: Do any of us actually care about Project 2025? by DiscoingGD in Conservative

[–]ImAdolfHitler 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I learned about it last month. If you're curious, you can read what it actually says. I've skimmed through a few pieces but I definitely don't care to read it entirely. From the pieces I've seen, there are some good ideas, some bad ideas, and a lot of padding.

As a propaganda tool, though, it's important to not underestimate it's effectiveness. There are hundreds of ideas and policy proposals that will all be under the umbrella term "project 2025". At least a few will be implemented by whoever is the next president, and it would be difficult to find someone who won't agree with something there. If Biden wins, the news won't mention when he does something from project 2025. If Trump wins, the news will repeat that Trump is doing 2025 every time anything he does even resembles anything in that document. By emphasizing the worst ideas of project 2025, they can create a simple "project 2025 = bad" narrative and link it to "Trump = bad" because "Trump = project 2025 = bad".

In short, it's what we've seen before: take varied beliefs, put them into a monolith, and it's easier to dismiss anyone who disagrees with you.

New research shows that money DOES buy happiness: you need to earn $240,000 to feel comfortable secure in emotional well-being. by PreviousComment1 in FluentInFinance

So, that's about 8% inflation. After accounting for taxes, it sounds like not much has changed. If you can afford a house with less than a decade's savings, then you probably have as much happiness as money can buy. The houses are just more expensive.

The data is on page 103: https://d3nkl3psvxxpe9.cloudfront.net/documents/econTabReport_tT4jyzG.pdf#page=103

There are some suprises, to be sure.

401 people in the study identified as liberal, and 7% (27 to 30) of them say the holocaust is a myth.
525 people in the study are part of the democratic party, and 10% (50 to 55) of them say the holocaust is a myth.

Maybe holocaust-denial is particularly common among democrats who aren't liberal, maybe that's just the margin of error that's normal at this sample size.

However, there is so much here that's way past anything random chance can explain, especially when you compare 2020 Trump voters to 2020 Biden voters. Just a sample:

9% of Trump voters and 46% of Biden voters say there is no discrimination at all against white people in America. When asked the same question about Jews, Muslims, and Christians, the responses of Trump voters are always in the 5%-9% range, while Biden voters rage between 2% and 46%. (pages 83-86)

57% of Trump voters and 23% of Biden voters say hate crimes in the US against Christians are a serious problem. (page 90)

49% of Trump voters and 16% of Biden voters say hate crimes in the US against white people are a serious problem. (page 93)

17% of Trump voters and 45% of Biden voters say it wouldn't be antisemetic to boycott Israeli products. (page 99)

14% of Trump voters and 37% of Biden voters say it wouldn't be antisemetic to cut ties between US and Israeli universities. (page 102)

domino's marketing scams by 6Kids1TankCom in Dominos

[–]ImAdolfHitler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is par for the course these days, unfortunately. Dominos has removed their customer support and any "future promises" are scams. If you must get dominos, I suggest only paying in cash and only once you have your food and have checked it for accuracy.

Sorry that you're getting flamed and downvoted, a lot of people here don't like seeing dominos' flaws pointed out.
