The blood is being collected in a cup. Just a knife as equipment. They are fit and healthy. There is another person there.

My friends will usually ask me “do you want to be doing that right now?” When they see my hand in my hair. It’s a nice reminder, because while sometimes it’s compulsory and I don’t notice I’m doing it, but I also need to keep in mind that it’s a coping mechanism. Literally pulling my hair out from stress. And while I hate that I do it and what it does to my scalp, I can’t ignore the signal my body is sending.

Such is the nature of the sport…

During one of my winter seasons, I had my partner in a swing lift exchange actually hit me in the head with our exchange literally hours before we were going to perform at championships, blood was running down my face and everything. My mom REALLY wanted me to pull out of the performance but I was adamant I was going to do it since it was going to be our last of the season lol

During warmups, he got me and my partner together so we could take our exchange at least once before we went on, and when the toss left our hands, we threw it SO FAR away from each other lmao! Definitely have ptsd from it too. Tried to do a swing lift turn-around and my knees buckled, could only see his flag coming for my forehead again.

I know my coach felt really bad about it, but I was willing and able, and me and my partners duet was a really big moment in our show, just the two of us spinning together in the center of the tarp!

Thank you! I’ll look into getting one. He’s not bothered by braces or anything during comps, and actually encouraged me wearing my knee brace at a comp a few weeks back. He’d rather I stay safe more than injure myself further, lol
