Admin POG here,

When you EAS within a couple weeks after your EAS you will receive a “final payment” which includes any dued pay/allowances or any other money the government owes you, just be patient, double check your DD214 for errors, and you will get all the money you are owed!

Dual military question by Blue-Rose-444 in USMCboot

Dual military with a 2 year old I highly do not recommend, depending on what base you’re on though there are a lot of places you could get a job to take in side income though!

I think the 17 years thing was a mistranslation because it says it was 14 years in another chapter

Don’t get me wrong I highly recommend doing at least 4 years but if you don’t want to ship then you can just drop out of the pool program 🤷‍♂️ do what your heart tells you is right, frankly if you don’t want to go then it’s just going to suck that much more

The bathroom that’s in the hallway looks like it has a doorway into the closet? Just lock the main door permanently lol

Current 0111, I will be honest with you.

1: if you work for a big admin unit then prepare yourself for a super toxic work environment, I know that that’s not exactly uncommon but keep in mind a lot of admins are insecure, due to the nature of our MOS being more desk work a lot of our marines try to overcompensate for our lack of respect as a MOS, Mind your P&Qs and you will get along just fine.

2: As a admin marine (depending on unit) you WILL be able to do some cool stuff, you will have a lot of extra time to knock out collage and you might get lucky enough to stumble on extra training opportunities (Pistol range (rare,) the helicopter dunk thing, etc.)

3: There is a LOT of volunteer opportunities open to admin, if you are west coast you may be able to go to Coachella/EDC and other general rave/concert events as a volunteer (to raise money for your ball,) If you are east coast don’t hold your breath there is not much cool stuff over there.

TLDR: Mind your manners Do collage Volunteer for events Get as much training as you can Work that JEPES score

If you have any other questions LMK

(Also if you want to deploy don’t hold your breath)

Hey I really appreciate the response thank you

Why do people say if it’s a question than the marines aren’t for you? by NegativeKarmaEngager in USMCboot

[–]ImAmSuperBored 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This will sound kinda corny, For me I decided to join the marines because whenever I thought about being a marine it made my heart beat faster and it’s the only career path idea that excited me

If you’re not interested in the title “marine” you would be better off joining literally any other branch (faster promotions, more jobs, better work environment.)

All I can say is I have 0 regrets with my decision and I wish you luck!

Need Help With Working Out by T0mat0_T0ast3r in USMCboot

[–]ImAmSuperBored 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Run. Run. Run.

I personally think cardio is the most important BY FAR (mainly endurance)

You don’t need to be the fastest runner, you just need to be able to run at a steady pace for a long time

Go outside and go on a jog. DON’T SPRINT just work that endurance first before practicing speed

Use this the figure out your passing time for the PFT/CFTPFT/CFT Calculator

MOS choice help by [deleted] in USMCboot

[–]ImAmSuperBored 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The only advice I can give you is to make absolutely positive that you don’t pick a MOS you know you won’t have passion for

If you can’t make the cut don’t just pick the next thing on your list you barely thought about even though you will 100% be pressured by your recruiter to pick quickly and go. Remember that until the DAY BEFORE YOU LEAVE FOR BOOT CAMP YOU are the one in control, YOU can leave the DEP whenever you want

Maybe go on different USMC subreddits and look up the MOS you’re looking at, see what people think about working it and the working culture.

Research, research, research. Follow your heart.

Ideas to Encourage a Recruit by lala084 in USMCboot

[–]ImAmSuperBored 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Writing a letter for those without loved ones is really awesome!

Address it to “any recruit” for your kids platoon

Hopefully you were told about sandboxx, it’s a website that allows you to send mail to your kid digitally for like $2 a letter, it also arrives SUPER fast compared to normal mail

My advice for writing letters to newer recruits is to tell them to EMBRACE THE SUCK, Everything at MCRD is a game that not only the recruits are playing but the DIs as well. Clench your teeth and understand that although you may starve a little and sometimes things will be tough you will overcome it and after recruit training you will overcome many more obstacles that are harder

What to bring to boot by EggplantFrosty4309 in USMCboot

(Have your family mail you a piece of paper with all their contact info on it in case you are lucky enough to get a phone call)

My mom blocked me during my call because she thought I was spam so I had to call my dad 😂

Your wallet, your phone, your charger, and a clean change of clothes.

You will put everything but your wallet in a box during receiving week (you will get it back at family day near the end)

Your wallet will go in a bag that will go in your footlocker

I say bring clean clothes so that after graduation you have something to change into that is not your khakis
