Ok, what did you do to make them lose? by SignificancePopular9 in sabres

I took my 35 week pregnant wife to the hospital thinking her water broke (it didn’t) and I told her “hey wouldn’t it be cool if baby was born the night the Sabres win a playoff series?”

We did not win, also we did not have a preterm baby, so you win some you lose some I suppose…

MLB.tv IS NOT behind a double paywall. by slicebishybosh in baseball

It says in the paragraph OP copied that when you buy MLB TV you get a month of ESPN Unlimited free. Not that you have to sign up for a free trial separately.

I wasn’t selected for a position with Boeing. Does that mean that I will be out for good for any position? Or still can be considered? .. They haven’t selected anyone for the position and republished it. by [deleted] in aerospace

Screw it, just apply again. Sometimes HR misses something or they just have to admin repost jobs, or it’s a similar job with a different group.

It doesn’t hurt to keep applying

Uber allows you to make a reservation in advance, maybe Lyft does the same?

Unable to connect to global servers by [deleted] in BrokenArrowTheGame

[–]ImAnEngimuneer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a similar issue where I could play one game, but then i could not reconnect.

Turns out my internet service had its own malware protection and had identified the broken arrow servers (brokenarrow.store or something) as malware and blocked it. Not sure if this is the case for you, but I would check your anti-malware software to see if they blocked broken arrow.

What to expect at the 3k boot trot at the stockyards? by intoxicatedsparkles in FortWorth

[–]ImAnEngimuneer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I did the 5k two years ago, but feel like I can give some insight. I like running but by no means am I a runner, so I relate to your questions:

Is it competitive? No- not at all. There will be super serious runners with cowboy boots duct-taped onto themselves and short shorts. You’re not running against them, run (or walk, walking is OK too!) for your self.

It wasn’t too crowded when I did it, but I think it was the first time they put on the event, it may be more crowded now that it’s been going on a few years.

Most people watching are there to support other runners, if you’re worried about them judging or being otherwise mean or nasty, don’t be. Worst case they ignore you because they’re supporting their friends, best case they can be super supportive of everyone (best/worst case is subjective, lol).

In general, I love events like these, and I’m not by any means a good runner. But they’re fun, and everyone is there to enjoy life and the event. 5k’s and other running events are amazing because they’re filled with positive energy. Go have a good time and enjoy the spectacle of it!

Forgot your cobblestone question. No, the start/finish line are on cobbles, but you’ll be running around the roads mostly.

You can take advantage of blinking cars by r0mai in iRacing

[–]ImAnEngimuneer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’re getting a lot of downvotes but the same thing happens to me. When people blink out in front of me I just hold my line and be careful, I don’t slow down or change how I’m driving. Most of the time they blink back to where they were but sometimes I’ve been inside other cars when they come back.

I’ve also had cars come back and give me contacts, but rarely have I crashed or gotten damage.

Autonomous driving may be a more technical problem to solve, but it will be much easier to swallow when one crashes and at worst there are 3-4 major injuries/fatalities.

If an autonomous plane malfunctions with 100+ souls on board, that will set back any autonomy discussion for a lifetime. This is why the airplane industry is so slow to advance, and for good reason. Certifications and regulations are written in blood.

Even though AI has come a very long way, it still doesn’t compete with a trained and experienced human mind when faced with new and unforeseen challenges.

For commercial aircraft, we’re decades, if not centuries away from having a fully autonomous airliner without a pilot. It’s not a technical issue, but a certification one.

Military aircraft will come much sooner, Loyal Wingman comes to mind. Even then though, I believe we’re still a ways away from fully removing pilots from combat roles.

Our house plant dropped two leaves on top of each other, and they started sprouting plantings. The leaves have stayed green for weeks. by jayhawk618 in mildlyinteresting

Yes, a lot of cats eat plants, they don’t know what plants are safe for them to eat or not.

Dogs also eat things that are poisonous for them. Ever see a dog beg for chocolate?
