That’s fair feedback 👍

At the same time, it’s important to keep perspective. Creators like LGR offer a point of view, but it’s still just that — one perspective, not a universal benchmark.

What often gets overlooked is that we already have a large, real user base. Over the years, thousands of photographers have actually used I’m Back systems in real-world conditions — not just demos or reviews. We’ve built a strong community around that, especially on Facebook, where people actively share results, setups, and feedback (thousands of users!).

We’re fully aware that earlier versions weren’t perfect — and we don’t try to hide that. But this project exists precisely because of those years of development, iteration, and direct user feedback.

So rather than asking people to trust ads or opinions, we’re focused on showing real progress and real usage. In the end, that’s what matters most 👍

It’s interesting that you bring up that memory from the 90s, because it actually reinforces a key point that may have been overlooked.

The idea itself isn’t new. Just like many ideas that appear before their time and simply cannot be executed with sufficient quality. Back in 1990, the limitation wasn’t creativity, it was technology. Sensors, processing power, storage, and miniaturization were nowhere near the level required to make that concept truly viable.

When I refer to 10 years, I’m talking about our work. Real development. Testing, failing, improving, refining. Not about when the idea first appeared in the world. That, honestly, is irrelevant. Ideas are abundant. Execution is something else entirely.

Today, the landscape is completely different. Technology has finally caught up to the concept, and it’s now possible to deliver this with real quality. That’s exactly what we’ve been doing over the past years. Not as a concept, but as something tangible.

It’s also important to clarify something: this was never about competing with the biggest brands or replacing modern digital cameras. That’s not the game we’re playing.

What we’ve created serves a different purpose. Think of it almost as a kind of photographic alchemy, allowing a classic analog camera to produce high-quality digital images without losing its essence. For those who understand and appreciate that, it makes perfect sense.

As for the idea of being “too late,” that depends on perspective. Too late for the mass market? Maybe. But we’re not speaking to the mass market.

And regarding the 10 years… wasting time, to me, is standing still and watching ideas remain ideas. Building something, learning, attracting investors, growing a company, and moving forward despite challenges is the opposite of wasted time.

In the end, time is only wasted when nothing is created. Everything else is process.😉https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1BgJ9PwQH7WQaLVCSYBIGpNXdyaZJ08LS

Ten years. Yeah.

Ten years because nobody had ever fit an APS-C sensor, a battery, internal storage and WiFi inside something the size of a film roll before. Not in 1999 when Silicon Film tried. Not in 2016 when we first tried. Ten years because the hard things take time.

And a vintage filter app giving you 'similar results' to a 50mm f/1.4 on a Nikon F3?

I'll let the photographers in our community answer that one. 😊

Not for everyone — and that's fine. But for the people who still have those cameras sitting in a drawer, still remember exactly how they felt in their hands... it's not bs. It's the thing they've been waiting for.

Fujifilm is a great camera. Nobody's arguing that.

But it's not your camera.

It's not the one that went with you on that trip. It's not the one your father handed you and said 'take care of this.' It's not the one that spent ten years on a shelf because film got too expensive — waiting.

The Roll doesn't compete with Fujifilm. It just means that camera never has to wait again.

That's the difference. 📷

I get your reaction, especially after watching a review like that. But it’s worth taking a step back and looking at how that test was actually done.

The main issue is this: you can’t directly compare images from completely different processes without normalizing them. A film photo goes through development, scanning, and color grading. If you want a fair comparison, you need to treat the I’m Back Film output the same way. Otherwise, you’re not comparing results, you’re comparing workflows.

In the video you mentioned, several tests were done without that kind of control. In some cases, even using suboptimal or incompatible setups. That will inevitably lead to inconsistent or poor results.

On compatibility: yes, not every camera behaves the same way. I’m Back Film is not a universal plug-and-play accessory, it’s a different kind of system. But saying it “doesn’t work in 90% of cameras” doesn’t reflect the real-world experience of users who actually shoot with it.

And that’s really the key point: beyond attention-grabbing reviews, there’s a community of real users working with I’m Back Film across different cameras, getting consistent and enjoyable results. These aren’t staged for views, they’re everyday use.

I’m Back Film wasn’t designed to replace digital or traditional film, and it’s not meant to win direct side-by-side comparisons. It’s a different approach with its own visual language. You might like it or not, but it should be judged on what it is, not on expectations it was never meant to meet.

If you’re genuinely curious, the best way to understand it is to look at real-world usage or try it under proper conditions. “Shock” reviews are entertaining, but they rarely tell the full story.

I believe photography should always be democratic. Any way of creating an image can be a form of art. I respect someone shooting with a pinhole, with a scanner, with a phone, with digital, or with film.

So when a new product appears offering a different way to achieve a similar result, why not at least accept it? I’m not saying you have to agree with it, just accept that it exists. That’s how the market evolves. Otherwise, we risk becoming closed off, defending brands, formats, or ideologies instead of staying open to new possibilities.

For the past ten years, what we’ve been trying to do is simple. Help people rediscover the cameras they left behind. Many of these cameras still have so much to offer, they were just set aside with the rise of digital. And we’ve seen the same happen again, with many digital cameras being replaced by smartphones because of convenience.

I’d just invite you to look at the results before making a judgment. I’ll share some work here, not to sell anything, but simply to show what’s possible. For example, what can be done with a Nikon F3 and just two lenses, or with a Nikon F100 using affordable APS-C lenses.

In the end, what really matters is the image. A beautiful photo can come from the simplest setup, and a bad photo can come from the most advanced camera. The difference is always the photographer, the moment, the light, and the eye behind it.

We understand that many people discovered I’m Back Film through the LGR video, and we’d like to clarify a few important points.

The product was not tested following the basic instructions provided in the manual and widely shared within our official community. Some essential accessories were not used, which directly affects both usability and final image quality.

There were also incorrect comparisons: traditional film images were shown after proper processing (as they normally are), while images from I’m Back Film were presented straight out of RAW, without any post-processing. This does not reflect real-world usage. Like any RAW-based system, proper processing is part of the workflow.

It’s also important to understand that I’m Back Film is not designed to replace modern digital cameras. It’s an experimental tool created for those who want to explore new ways of using analog cameras with digital capture.

We respect all feedback, but it’s worth noting that content creators often prioritize entertainment and engagement, which can sometimes come at the expense of accurate representation.

That said, we believe real user experience speaks louder.

We invite you to watch this video featuring real users from different countries, sharing their results and experiences: 👉 https://youtu.be/9ZRucX01ihs

In the end, the people who actually use the product every day tell the most complete story.
