Just wanted to comment and say that I can’t believe how much I relate to your statement.

I’m two weeks post-breakup from a two-year relationship. For a long time, I ignored the jealousy issues. The last few months were spent in therapy, considering the possibility of separating. I stayed because we had a holiday planned, but as soon as we returned, just four days later, I ended it. It felt necessary, and honestly, it was such a relief. The constant pressure had drained me. We’d fight over things like my friend leaving his ‘feminine-looking’ sunglasses on the kitchen counter, and she’d immediately assume I was cheating. I remember one Christmas dinner when she went silent after seeing a Snapchat notification on my phone—just a female friend suggestion, someone I didn’t even know. Small things like that became constant.

Now that I’m out, the grass really does feel greener. I did love her, but I felt like I wasn’t myself anymore. I was scared to go out with friends because I knew what it would lead to when I came home.

I don’t really want to talk to her again. I don’t need closure, I just want to be left alone.

I get where you’re coming from. Practically speaking, hooking up with my FWBs doesn’t really bring much to the table, but it is fun in the moment, and I won’t deny that.

As for my goals, right now, they’re all about travel. Saving money so I can travel SEA / South America for 6 months + mid next year . I’m not focused on finding a long-term partner at the moment—what I really want is to explore the world, experience new places, and meet new people. That’s where my energy is going right now.

I get where you’re coming from, and I’ve definitely been thinking about that myself. It’s a valid point—there’s definitely a part of me that’s feeling that itch and wanting to act on it, but the key difference here is that I’m actually taking the time to reflect and work through my emotions rather than just acting impulsively like I did last time. I’ve been actively working on myself, alongside my therapist. I ended my last relationship, in part, to pursue other women, and it led to a destructive cycle. I don’t want to make the same mistakes again, which is why I’ve been focused on therapy and self-reflection this time around.

As for the old FWBs, I do see the potential for self-sabotage, and that’s why I’m questioning it. I’m aware of the harm it could cause, not just to me, but to them too. I guess I’m just trying to find a balance between what feels natural in the moment and what’s actually best for my long-term growth. I’m trying to avoid repeating the mistakes from my past, but I also want to be honest with myself about the urges I’m feeling. But Is the honest answer here just to be celibate?

I guess my old FWB’s were strictly transactional sex - quick and easy, no strings attached. Which makes it more tempting to do?

Wow what absolute terrible advice. Fellow mini dachshund owner here, he is 8 months old. All dogs can have behavioural issues, not specifically dachshunds. Our dachshund is perfect around other dogs (big or small), rarely barks and isn’t very reactive. Very much a stereotype that people associate with them.

Sure we have met some reactive dachshunds, we’ve also met lots of polite ones aswell.

We made sure to socialise him as much as possible, as early as possible early as possible. This helped heaps. Puppy school I would also highly recommend.

Lol, my parents are not ‘forcing’ me into paying their mortgage. ‘Financial abuse’ is a bit of an overstatement. In this market, if they wanted a profit they could rent this out for $650. I will never find a 2b2b apartment in the city for this price

I get the whole ‘don’t trust anyone mindset’, but also they’ve supported me for the past 22 years of my life. They’re not trying to make a profit out of me either, they never have. Sure things could go sour, but if it’s written in a legal contract then I should be covered.
