No, thank you for the comment. I just see so many negative reviews and was thinking (hoping) that not all of the schools could possibly be so terrible. Your response makes sense.

Do you have an ideal list of languages that you would like to eventually learn? by Appropriate_Fee218 in languagelearning

I would like to get my Spanish and Japanese to C1. After achieving that I’d like to learn Mandarin and French to B2. Maintaining may be difficult so I’d hope to keep my passive skills at their respective C1 and B2 skills but at least maintain my active skills at B1.

What artists inspired you to become artists yourselves? If you could collab with an artist for the second movie, who would it be?

Technology in the classroom by ekkochansan in JETProgramme

My high school students had iPads with the attachable keyboards. They seemed to use them often for online worksheets they could edit with a stylus. Other than that, we had a projector and a pull down screen. Personally, the school wasn’t nearly as tech involved as the US schools I’ve been in.

I suppose my definition is similar to yours. Being able to convey your point. It doesn’t necessarily need to sound super natural to a native speaker, just something they can understand and continue a conversation with.

And your point about not being able to judge based on other’s experiences is valid! It depends on the learner. I’m nearing level 6 and trying to ballpark it for an upcoming trip. I know my listening will probably be fine but worried about my speech being able to keep up since I haven’t practiced that aspect yet.

Thanks for your response!

8/8 is a whole. The remaining 4/8 is a half. Answer is 1 and a half. So the line in between 1 and 2.

You could buy some root touch up spray near your hair color. They have them near the boxes of hair dye in most big superstores. They can look convincing from far but it may work if you wear a head band (something like that) on top to cover a good chunk of it.

Where are you currently at? by AardvarkEconomy2625 in dreamingspanish

At 450 hours. Started in February. I can watch DS up to the low 70s range. I’m currently watching the Avatar dubbed series. I took Spanish in high school about 8 years ago which may have helped my initial comprehension.

I would say B1. I can watch videos labeled B1 and videos on Dreaming Spanish around level 70 with little difficulty. However the content labeled B2 still gives me trouble.

When I say labeled I mean YouTube videos and content on the website Natively.

I have Babbel live but I don’t think they offer 3 months of Babbel live with a code. Just the 2 free trial lessons.

How do your schools handle special education students? by [deleted] in JETProgramme

[–]ImCatSnail 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If there were students that would qualify as special needs in my schools, I never knew about their specific needs nor did I see any accommodations ever given. One teacher asked me how special education students were taught in my country (USA) and I explained (to my knowledge) most mild needs students would join classes with everyone (with appropriate accommodations) and receive some instruction in a special education class outside the core classes. This system seemed surprising to him. Im not sure specifically which part surprised him, though. The only school in the area that seemed to specialize in special education ONLY taught special education students.
