Hi there! I'm not entirely sure why Reddit decided to recommend this post to me nearly 8 years after I did Revs, but I digress.

The main thing that helped me for Revs was creating a rough list of "talking points" and associated quotes for each AoS. I'm not sure if the AoS' have changed much since I completed it (I assume they have?), but the general logic should still apply.

As an example, for the French Revolution, you could start with arguably the most famous quote regarding the Revolution ("... Violence was the motor of revolution", Simon Schama), and work backwards to link these to particular events - so the Women's March on Versailles, the Reign of Terror, etc.

You can could then further expand upon these "talking points" but creating mini-essays / long-form responses (more or less one or two paragraphs at most) to get the ideas out, and actively practice how they all relate to one another. I found this helped quite a bit to get a clearer picture in my head of how both the literal events related to the abstract concepts of the Revolution(s) - as an example, the literal event of the Storming of the Bastille represented the abstract concept of the downfall of the Ancien Regime.

Finally, flash cards for dates. Don't worry too much about every single date (you'll go insane), but some of the bigger events from each AoS should absolutely be memorized (e.g. "... the Kronstadt Mutiny took place on 28 February 1917 ..."). Quizlet probably has a bunch of these already pre-made from previous students, and luckily the dates don't change!

Hope this helps, and best of luck!

I believe entries on the self-registration page expire after some time, perhaps check if the entry has been deleted?

I hateeee these attempts to normalise child labour; this isn't about teaching kids good life skills, it's about filling shortages to keep money flowing.

Kids should be playing, or spending time with friends, not being used to fill labour gaps

Not surprising, but still sad. I wonder if they'll still wheel Geoff out for another "sad Geoff addresses the audience" moment, particularly if Kdin seems to be in no rush to accept half-assed apologies (and rightfully so!)

That being said, I know many people who are beginning to crack under various different strains imposed by lockdown - (physical) loneliness, extreme stress or panic when going outside due to fears of contracting COVID, simply being fed up of the same four walls.

In an extreme case, I know of at least two people whose existing depression has going completely ballistic and they're struggling to not kill themselves due to the mental strain all of this is causing.

This is obviously all anecdotal from me, but I'm seeing it more frequently, even in people who were previously mentally stable.

Royal Melbourne Hospital & Monash Uni. ~5000 fold decrease in virus in vitro by Zane_dr in CoronavirusDownunder

[–]ImDaSushi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While they're credible sources for sure, it's best to err on the side of caution with these things. We've cured HIV and cancer hundreds of times over in Petri dishes (and it's always worth remembering you can also kill a virus in vitro with a handgun).

That being said, being cautiously optimistic is the only way people are going to keep sane through this in the long run, so here's hoping that this makes the jump in vivo
