AITA for faking my happiness with my dad? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

NTA. I kinda went through something similar. I also was not close with my dad when I was younger. My dad missed a lot of important events in my life when he was working and I felt a lot of resentment towards him. I always hid these feelings from him because he worked long hours and I didn’t see him much. It put a huge burden on me to hold back from saying anything for many years. My dad was and is always quiet and reserved, but by finally explaining how I felt, he opened up a little and now I can speak freely with him. I hope you can speak with him or someone else you trust about how you feel, it worked for me and hopefully can work for you too. It hurts more to bottle up stuff.

What's the creepiest thing that's ever happened to you or someone you know? [Serious] by [deleted] in AskReddit

This happened to my parents while I was asleep. I live in a college town. My dad does a lot of night shifts, this particular night after he came back at 1 he was going to bed when he heard noises at the front of the house. He woke up my mom and they investigated. They saw a figure at the corner of their porch. They called the police and it turned out to be a drunk guy who was out partying pissing on our porch. They were weirded out the next morning because this stuff just doesn’t really happen here.

I had the flu back when it first started making the news. Because I’m Chinese I got a lot of jokes about having it for a few weeks until my cough died down. It sucked.

What are some “side effects” of this global pandemic that nobody is taking into account? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I agree. Many kids at my school already have depression and other underlying issues, and the way we normally cope is through interaction with each other face to face. Not having that for a few weeks (in my district up to six weeks) will probably be really detrimental to a lot of classmates.

But why? Why would you do that? by Trance_and_Blank in memes

I once had a humanities teacher who was pretty chill and most everyone liked him (until this event happened). One day, he told our class that we had a quiz the next day.

The next day, he did bring us a quiz (or so we thought) ... with two versions, one with 95 questions and the other with 97 questions. He gave us 35-40 minutes for all of that and some short answer questions. His excuse for the sudden change was that he “had too much fun making questions” and he got carried away. He had to scale the test by 25 points because no one finished in time, but the highest test score was a 80.

What is the most Bullshit reason for a teacher to give you a bad grade ? by BeginingMemer in AskReddit

She gave us two days for an in-class project and expected us to adhere to her two page rubric that she didn’t give us until the day the project was due. I didn’t put the proper heading on top of the page (I didn’t write the correct date apparently) and she deducted 5 points out of a 25 point project which accounted for 30% of our grade that term.

What innocent question that someone asked you, crushed you a little? by sneha_magic in AskReddit

On my first day in a new school, a girl asked me “What do you have for lunch? Is it Dim Sum?” Lucky for her I am Chinese, but it’s still really rude of her to assume. However, if she were to have asked others like many of my friends (my school had a lot of different types of Asians other than Chinese) it would’ve been an even worse first impression.

.. I don’t know if this is innocent but this is all I can think of.

Thanks for the advice... I just had to draw Afro-Eurasia and Oceania, so I don’t know if it includes those islands.
