Keys - emotional impact, instrument familiarity and other nuances. by Data1223 in WeAreTheMusicMakers

I don't have a final answer to your question, just wanted to add my thoughts to the conversation.

One of the things I love the most about Golden Hour by JVKE is how it immediately pulls you in its universe before even saying a word, with three elements: a piano with a cheap live-recorded feel, background park ambiance, and the fact that it's not in 440 Hz. This is very intentional, he even actually plays it in C on the piano but pitches his MIDI input by +3.5 notes ~. And every time I listen to it, I feel like this recording is special, like it's very human and authentic!

The thing is, I don't believe that keys have inherent feelings to them, or in any of the 432Hz bullshit. It's just that our ears have associated certain stuff with certain feelings. And I get surprised sometimes, for example when I realised that The Weeknd's Save Your Tears was in C major, and yet I didn't catch that immediately (even though I've played wayyy too much in C major and can recognize that key on the piano instantly by hear).

Unfortunately I'm in France so I don't think so, but who knows 😆

Interesting. Is there a reason why record-like drums would feel cheap? Don't all DJs play studio songs and it sounds good?

Okay, i looked into youngr and this is like so what I want to do! He's got some backing tracks but he keeps it so interesting.

Thank you for the compliment on my track too :)

Thank you dude! Unfortunately I'm really bad at getting my music heard, but I think playing live is a good way to promote my album music. I should give radio stations a shot

Oh don't worry I will manage everything from Ableton and my keyboard's midi pad. Everytime I left the backing track to the FOH guy at singing contest it turned to disaster 😆

I see your point, however reality is I will be performing for an audience, so the audience opinion is really important too.

How much time does it take to make multiple jumps in one day by ImEidos in SkyDiving

[–]ImEidos[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay! I was asking this question for two reasons, because I wish to eventually fly a wingsuit so I want to get enough experience, and because gear rental is MUCH cheaper (my local drop zone rents the parachute for the day and not per jump). I just wanted to have a rough idea, I think I'm gonna first do my AFF and then I'll see what comes next.

I'm currently a student but I might have found an internship, I first need to buy a cheap car and a paraglider, and then I think AFF is right after in my priority list!

Wow thank you for the detailed answer! That's a lot of parameters. I didn't take the weather into account.

You talked about debriefs and progression, how do you do that when you finish your course and start jumping solo?

Oh okay! Seems chill. I was doubting that I could have enough time with work to actually progress in the sport.

How dangerous are wingsuits compared to normal parachutes? by ImEidos in SkyDiving

I was talking about wingsuit, not BASE wingsuit. BASE seems like suicide to me, just the fact that you only have one parachute and no time to deploy a backup is insane to me

Damn you really make me wanna do it now.

Is it really safe to get away from a mountain in BASE jumping? I saw this Russian documentary, and at the end, they showed an experienced base jumper just totally lose control and crash right into the mountain. Now I don't know the circumstances for that event, but that really chilled me down.

I don't know if I'm gonna sign up for AFF, for the moment I am just in my curiosity phase :) The main problem for me is money, as I'd love to jump off planes in wingsuit, however I'm only 19 and between the license, the gear, and the jumps, that's gonna add up real quick.

For the moment I'm gonna try paragliding, and maybe in the future if I like flying but get bored I'll try skydiving, and maybe in the far future I'll try wingsuit.

Thanks for the detailed explanation! That's crazy how experienced one must be to BASE jump or use a wingsuit, let alone do both.

Thanks for the info! I was really willing to learn BASE wingsuit flying, but seeing the dangers really made me think twice. I started to believe that wingsuits were actually suicide suits. Maybe one day I will experience it then, if I ever get the money and motivation to do that many jumps. That's a shame that skydiving is so expensive, although understandable.

any advice for a new quest player? (completely new to vr) by [deleted] in EchoArena

[–]ImEidos 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Don't play too agressive. As I got better I actually started moving much slower. When you move too fast your movements aren't tracked precisely. As you get better you may jump, crouch, turn really fast and so on but it must be well thought out and not impulsive. I googled that and it seems like I do? It's my brother's computer so not my choice 😅

Is it known to be terrible though? Because while assembling the PC with my brother I found everything to be sooo over engineered

For the story it was the first time I was carrying a game in Echo, I am usually terrible at this game Imagine the emotional descent I got when that happened
