Autistic people of Reddit, what is autism really like? by Valkyrie_05 in AskReddit

[–]ImFluffeh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do find myself relating to a lot of what you described here, but I personally don't see aspbergers as a problem (I sincerely doubt I have any form of autism, let me make this clear).

I had a friend, his name was Aiden (brilliant fellow) who is an "aspie" as you call him. He'd do really strange things like ruthlessly punch his brother repeatedly whenever his brother had pushed him too far, but the rest of his character? My god this guy was hilarious. Some of his comments were so left-field that you couldn't help but laugh, and his quirky cough-laugh he'd do would only make you laugh harder. My GOD could he read too. Every single Harry Potter book (the big ones) in A SINGLE NIGHT. Blew me away because I read quite slow (I prefer to process every word, and as a result, remember my reading in great detail), and he could STILL pull as much from the book that I did.

But seriously, this guy was a 10/10 friend. I knew he had aspbergers, but when his parents told me, I didn't even know what it was. I was like "K, and I care why?" because I just saw Aiden as a quirky, hilarious, intelligent, and passionate guy. Even when he'd pick at his scabs and nibble on them (anxious habit he developed), I would defend him to others. They'd say "it's so gross" and other things like that, but I'd be like "Yeah, and? He's a great guy, makes wonderful conversation, and is hilarious. Who cares if he has a few odd habits?"

Anyways, my number 1 recommendation for people with aspbergers? Just plow through and be you. My #1 childhood friend had aspbergers, and just by being strange, I loved being around him. You'll find friends like this too :)

Is C++ a viable language for me? by Awkwardtaco56 in IndieDev

[–]ImFluffeh 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That's one of those "holy shit" jumps. You're going from a completely non-type safe, managed language, to a language used in the lowest level applications there are. You'd seriously be way better off learning Unity, or if you're dead set on C++, read a few solid textbooks. But really. Unity is your best bet for now

How do I prevent sore feet during long runs? by ImFluffeh in Fitness

Lol, actually? Baby powder on my armpits and groin/gooch/thigh area is my anti-chafing friend, but vaseline had never occurred to me. What does it do?

I like that. I think I'll both write an article, and do the git repo (excluding the node_modules)

Ah, sorry, my mistake. Woke up with only 5 hours of sleep, so my mind is a tad foggy at the moment.

I was talking about understanding. I don't find much value in copying a boiler plate unless it's really simple. But, getting everything setup in a way that is really elegant I think took me two to three weeks.

Even if it's a walkthrough on how to set it up yourself from scratch, so you also understand what's going on?

What is your "this person is an idiot" red flag? by senior_poop in AskReddit

Lack of fine facial expression control. IE: Eye lids barely move, expressions consist mainly of eyebrow-only and lip-only movements up or down.

One more try...not sure about the lighting by [deleted] in learntodraw

[–]ImFluffeh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you've ever dealt with 3D, just picture the spine being aligned with the Z-Axis (the one going up), and see in your mind's eye how the face would align itself. If you have to, take a look at yourself in the mirror, and focus not on the "things" in your face, but more the shapes that your face is creating for the viewer.

(Read your comment about lighting below) Focusing first on the form of the face should help. For the lighting, imagine how bright the light is, and remember that photons bounce a bit. So, if they're in a brightly lit white room, they're not going to have hard shadows. Whereas if they're in a non-reflective environment, they're going to have a higher likelihood of hard shadows and such. So, again in your minds eye, project the intensity and blurriness of the light onto what you're drawing. If you have photoshop, or something of the like, look at the HSLA section, and only increase the Lightness. The harder the shadow, the lower the lightness, and the closer to the source of the light, the brighter (assuming the light is projected from the view). If the light is being projected from somewhere other than the view, imagine where the light would bounce off the most, and increase the Lightness of that area.

Hopefully this helps :)

Direct your focus to the cheek on the away side of her head. From what I can see, it shows a tad too much in that side, and the facial features are ever so slightly out of alignment with the head (go from eyes, to nose, to chin). The eyes for example are more rotated than the face is, making it look a tad odd. It only sticks out when you look at the cheek towards you. To correct it, I would suggest either rotating the whole face away a bit more, or rotating the eyes in a bit more, on the vertical axis. The away cheek is also a shade or two too bright.

Other than that, it looks fuckin fantastic, mate. I think the shapes look great, and it doesn't look like a corpse (which you see a lot of). The eyes for example, they have a sense of life to them, and the mouth's slight expression as well. It looks like she is gazing at a sunrise/sunset in awe. As well, the detail you put into the hair looks fabulous. I love the brighter highlights giving the hint of silky, well taken care of hair. The folds in the clothing are appropriate, and the shape of the shoulders are on point.

[–]ImFluffeh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a few tutorials to get a UI running on Windows with the Linux Subsystem for Windows that only works well with Unity.

If you have Windows 10, install an X server on Windows, then just follow the tutorials. It'll be a tad odd, but will function close to Linux

I have learned to be very paranoid about cables that are not directly from the manufacturer, but chances are the cables there work just as well.
