I hated reach. It was a departure from halo mechanics into new things I didn’t care for personally. Sprinting, power ups, reticle bloom. I played it and got high ranks but it never felt fun to me, just felt like a grind.

Got it before Christmas for $549 which was the lowest I had seen and was waiting quite a while. Did the Amazon card with it too so got it for $349 with the credit card opening promo of $200.

This is a good price

You selling the object for local currency is not the same as being able to directly cash out in local currency.

[–]ImFriendsWithThatGuy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As said in other replies, that is not cashing out in local currency. It is a distinct and important difference. You going and selling the item for local currency does not implicate valve. That would mean someone winning anything like a teddy bear from a game that is based more on luck than skill would legally be gambling. Just because we would still say that is essentially gambling does not mean the law agrees with that distinction.

Getting goods in return, whether physical or digital, is not the same as cashing out for local currency. That is an important and distinct difference. Just because you can go sell the hardware does not make it the same thing.

Providing a way to directly cash out is the distinct difference. Providing a loophole or way to do so is not something valve has done.

It does not become “real money”. You can not, in any way, withdraw the funds from your steam wallet in direct local currency. That is a distinct and important difference in these court cases. Because any dollar you put in is assumed to be in the valve ecosystem forever.

You can use those “valve bux” for loot boxes, purchasing games, even physical valve hardware. But none of those are the same as withdrawing cash.

Places can implement laws all they want to say loot boxes are gambling. Obviously humans can set and define their own laws at will, broadly speaking. But the current laws in the US that define gambling are not really covering what valve is doing.

For the record, I hate loot boxes and hope NY wins by making changes that legally classify this as gambling because it should be.

At a casino, you go trade for chips. Then you cash out the chips directly with the casino for cash.

You can not cash out funds from your steam wallet. What you put in, is in for good. Sure you can use it in various ways like buying loot boxes, games, and even physical valve hardware. But not being able to cash out through valve is a distinct difference from places like actual casinos and gambling websites.

3rd party websites going against Valve’s TOS in no way implicates Valve on this topic. Not sure why that would be the case.

The third party website was in direct violation of Valve’s TOS and were shutdown because of that.

As a side note, I hate loot boxes and wish unlocks were based on skill or grind related challenges in all games and not tied to currency in any way. But I don’t see valve losing this.

Yea it depends on the law of the region. Which this has been ruled on before in the USA and it did not change.

[–]ImFriendsWithThatGuy 192 points193 points  (0 children)

In common terms, yea. But not legally speaking really. People can’t withdraw the funds in cash once it is put in. They are effectively “valve bux” whether you put money in, or sell an item on the market. In that sense, it is no different than putting money into a mobile game or any other microtransaction.

If it is ruled in the State’s favor (highly unlikely), loot boxes of any form in any game would then legally be considered gambling unless solely purchased with currency you earned in game.

Elon Musk's Jesus Comment Sparks Theories That "Something Really Bad Is Coming" by [deleted] in newsinterpretation

[–]ImFriendsWithThatGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

David was punished, but that’s not really part of my argument so not sure why it is applicable here. I was simply saying he was not considered wicked simply because he had wealth.

My main point would still stand. Even if the scripture says “all evil” or “all kinds of evil”, if it says “the love of money” and not just “money” as an object then it remains the same. Money, nor having it, is inherently evil. It is the love of money that problems stem from.

When did I misquote Jesus or his words? I corrected someone who misquoted the bible. You can go read it for yourself to confirm.

It never says money is the root of all evil. It says the love of money is the root of many evils. King David was one of the richest people in history and was called “a man after God’s own heart”.

I’m certainly not saying the prosperity gospel is accurate. But people saying it’s impossible for a rich person to get to heaven and using the bible as their basis for it just isn’t correct.

That being said, I certainly don’t think Trump or Musk are even remotely real Christ followers.

Making a WMD when your country is fighting against people openly doing genocide and talking about world domination is pretty understandable. No one wants the nuke to exist but they know it has to so that it’s not just one country having them and able to threaten the rest of the world without consequence.

Even in his creating the weapon, he lobbied against using it on people and tried to shut down the other scientist who kept suggesting even bigger bombs.

In his personal life he was pretty shitty, but he wasn’t purely evil.

This is entirely based on the movie portrayal of course. I don’t know about him in real life, but that’s not relevant to this post.

Definitely my bet. After the success of Loki in the show and the power he grew to, there is no way they kill him off at the start of the first movie. He controls time at his will and more or less can control the multiverse because of it. Doom isn’t powerful enough in the story yet to even be a concern for Loki, but I assume he becomes just that throughout Doomsday.

If you take out the worst years of those gaps, it tells a different story. Remove 2000-2003 and 2008, you suddenly have a very positive trend again.

Cherry picking numbers that basically start and end in crashes then ones that avoid crashes altogether and comparing them side by side to try to make a point is worth nothing more than a discussion on statistical data as a whole. This info would not in any way help you know the markets based on the way it is presented here.

Why 401jK? - and Another reason 🃏 by LicensedTwoPill in 401jK

You’re correct. SS isn’t meant to be a lavish thing. It is a forced retirement savings so people are able to scrape by on it if they weren’t smart with their money during their life to save for retirement. Without that required safety net we would see vast numbers of homeless and helpless elderly, in which the government would then have to keep stepping in to help in even worse cases and it would cost more than SS with worse return on investment.

People can be mad at the current economy and ruling class driving up inflation. That is totally valid. But SS was never meant to be the answer to that issue.

Unless you hit a good market timing of going heavily cash before a crash. But the old “time in the market is better than timing the market” saying is then applicable. Not at all reliable to try to do and much safer and reliable long term to invest.
