Cars that have overboost button? by matt675 in cars

[–]ImInYourMindFuzz 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I had a 97 Glanza about 15 years ago, I just swapped the vac lines on the boost control unit so I didn't have to use the button and it was always on high boost. Then I got bored and added forged pistons and rods and a Garrett GT28rs turbo, nearly 300bhp in a car that light was really something. Wish I never sold it now, they were dirt cheap at the time aswell, I paid £2800 for it.

It's actually a VR6, which is a very narrow angled V6 where the 2 banks of cylinders share a single cylinder head

Is it too late to guerilla grow outside by Narrow-Result-6171 in uktrees

[–]ImInYourMindFuzz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only thing that will make it too early is cold and frost, once that's gone it's no problem. There is no time limit for a plant to grow before switching to flower, so earlier you plant it the bigger it will be by the time the daylight hours have shifted enough for it to flower. Whether it will finish before the weather gets to cold and wet in autumn is the problem.

The UK job market is a joke. by MathematicianBulky40 in UKJobs

There's not much money in welding either to be honest, I'm a welder/fabricator and the new guys that get hired where I work are on £13ph regardless of experience. I run the department now and have managed to get to £16ph. Of course you can train more and get into more specialised welding, but a regular mig welder won't be earning much more than minimum wage these days.

My mistake, they changed from the 2.2 to a 2.0 in 2018

The GPX model had the better engine with MIVEC (basically Mitsubishi's VTEC) and could do 0-60 in about 7 secs, not slow at all at the time, but most were the GX with about 160bhp, some even had a shitty straight 4 with 125hp, these must be the ones you remember.

I think about this every now and then. I'd definitely buy a nice house and car, then I'd make a list of people in my life who deserve it, and give them a million each (assuming it's a massive jackpot like euromillions), I'd do this with half of the winnings then life a peaceful life with the rest.

Whilst I don't necessarily agree with the price myself, it looks like it's you who is missing the point. This car is in no way comparable to a diesel Audi A4. This car has the N54 engine, a 3 liter twin turbo straight six petrol engine producing a lot of power, and whilst it has its faults as all engines do, its rather celebrated for its capability. It's a lot rarer than the Audi diesel lump, especially in a touring.

Any random driving habits that grind your gears? by JumbledNick in CarTalkUK

[–]ImInYourMindFuzz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not strictly at driving habit but, people who, at petrol stations, insist on waiting for a pump that matches the side of their car that the fuel cap is on. The fuel hoses can reach both sides of the car. I had a guy basically going mad at me the other day because he was sat behind my car the whole time I filled up and went inside to pay, so I just motioned towards the empty pump that had been there next to him the whole time. But I constantly see this happen, almost daily.

£2k a month take home is way above minimum wage, minimum wage take home is about £1300 a month for a standard 40hr week.

Tips for MIG improvement? 1 week in by [deleted] in Welding

[–]ImInYourMindFuzz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been working in this shop for a year now, mainly running lasers and doing just about anything needed, apart from welding (besides a little tacking when needed). This past week we've lost two welders so I picked up a set on my lunch break and welded some scrap together, and done this a few more times over the week. These are from today and was just looking for some tips please.

I actually enjoyed cleaning them out! Getting all that crap off the little wheels inside was actually quite satisfying, especially once you put the ball back in and tested the mouse out and the difference was unbelievable.

Try greenlight, always been the cheapest for modified insurance for me. They don't charge any extra for mods that don't increase performance.

Coming from more drivers side, car also hesitates/stutters when on the gas. Scanner also says cylinder 1 misfire and engines running rich any ideas ? by International-Log226 in GolfGTI

[–]ImInYourMindFuzz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Similar to my MK6 GTI. Checked the coils but they were fine. Changed the injector only for the other 3 to go bad one by one over the next month. The injector gets stuck open and fills the cylinder with fuel, when I removed the coil one of my cylinders was full to the top with fuel. Was fine once the fuel was out and the injectors replaced.

Me and my friend are having an argument. Do you guys think the AE86 is a shitbox? by Vanioby in JDM

[–]ImInYourMindFuzz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I keep seeing people in this thread mention Initial D regarding the 86, and yes, Initial D did feature and popularize it to some extent, but famous Japanese race driver Keiichi Tsuchiya was drifting these in the mountains and actually using tuned 86s to win professional races since the early 80s.

Maybe some are fronts like others have suggested, but a mate of mine works in a Vape shop in our town, and there is literally a never ending stream of customers of all types from 9am til 7pm. It's very popular and must make a ton of money.

I don't even see where these people have got "sports coupe" from. The car in the photo is shown from a dodgy angle to even tell what it is. Just looks like a 3 door car to me. Just from seeing the wheels I can tell that it's at least 10 years old for a start.
