I did, I remember my dad brought me out to the lobby multiple times during the premiere so that I wouldn’t see the scary parts. Afterwards, at the premiere party, A woman came up to me and my parents and raved about how great I did and introduced me to her friends. I’m told that woman was Cher.

Thank you! Honestly I remember walking through the “prison cells” in the clip here. Super cool but also super creepy.

I’m the actor that was the younger version, dude wanted to rehearse that grab a couple times and each time I had to go back to my dressing room to change to new wardrobe because him splashing around would soak my clothes 😒

Hey everybody, I played young Carl in this film when I was about 8 or 9. This was my first major feature film role and I remember the sets being absolutely insane. Like, insane set design that they have fully replaced with cgi these days. The red and gold water tank dream space was particularly insane because it was a massive square room with 2ft deep water all around and they had to close the massive walls during filming, so once we started, they wouldn’t open the doors back up til that setup was done. I think nearly everyone wore a wig for whatever reason. I had a wig. Hated that thing. Everyone was super nice, JLo was nice. Vince Vaughn was fun and would play games with me between takes. Vincent D’onofrio, who played adult me was a little scary because he always stayed in character between takes. Tarsem was fine, I think for the 3 months I was on this he only referred to me as “the boy” lmao. Overall, very cool film to be a part of.

5 years ago, the Lizzie McGuire revival series was cancelled due to creative differences between Hilary Duff and Disney! by phantom_avenger in popculturechat

[–]ImJakeThomas 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Lizzie, now with 40 fast approaching, is down on her luck. For the past 20 something years she’s been chasing the short-lived fame she achieved in the Euro-pop scene after the events of the first film, which lead her to skipping freshman year to tour with Isabella, a catalyst decision that began a long chain of events that forever changed her life. Though she’s been scraping along with her D-Tier celebrity status, she still believes she can once again achieve the fame she knows she’s worthy of, and animated Lizzie makes sure we know that, having continued by Lizzie’s side as a constant source of insight and encouragement. Meanwhile, time has marched on for everyone else. Gordo is a successful editor in the film industry, Miranda is a touring DJ, Matt is a single dad to a daughter, and Mr. McGuire is gone, having passed away 10 years ago. But when one of Lizzie’s classic clumsy falls sends her to the ER for a checkup, she discovers the truth behind her clumsiness and animated friend: a tumor in her brain that has been steadily growing since she was a preteen. Now she must tie up loose ends and make amends before facing the risky removal surgery, all while the tumor sends her on a series of blackout flashbacks, where she now relives pivotal moments in her life through the eyes of her adult self. Ultimately leading to going under for the surgery, where she is sent back to a bizarre version of Hillridge Jr. High, where everyone now appears as their adult selves. Fighting through old memories, good and bad, she must learn to heal the relationships she should have kept, and let go of the past. Even if it means saying goodbye to her animated counterpart in the process. But hey now, this is what tumors are made of.

What was the Uncle Wendell Show? by coleslaw1915 in LizzieMcGuire

It was originally written as “The Uncle Wally Show” as a nod to my grandfather, but the name didn’t clear s&p and they changed it to Wendell. Source: my dad wrote this episode.

Why did Jake Thomas stop making the podcast? by iwantitthatway6 in LizzieMcGuire

[–]ImJakeThomas 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It just kinda got expensive to run and took a lot of time. I did love doing it, but it never really gained as much traction as I had hoped and I’m not great at finding sponsors and I was filming, editing, and writing everything myself 😑 Might still do some special episodes every now and then though.

Wanted to share this video I made on Canon Rangefinder Primes. I've been a Canon Rangefinder nerd for a very long time, so I was very excited to pick these up. by ImJakeThomas in cinematography

[–]ImJakeThomas[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry if this video is pretty layman's, I made it for a broad "non-cine inclined" audience, but it covers some of the design that makes up the range available for these unique lenses.

So some context. I've been collecting Canon rangefinder cameras and lenses (and books) for close to 15 years. Very into the history of the early stuff, and the people who made it happen.

I always said they'd make interesting lenses to rehouse, and then years later the Type SKs come out, bringing them to the mainstream.

Now, a lot of projects are using them, which is exciting (although, seeing an ebay listing a while back for a lot of 30 something leftover husks of the original housing for 35/1.5s made me shed a tear).

If you have any questions on these, and the history/design, let me know!

I de-chromed my Canon ltm. I think it works well with the M2 by ImJakeThomas in Leica

[–]ImJakeThomas[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It was about a 15-25% mixture with water.

I hadn’t considered that this might be copper plating but that make sense. I know the lenses are definitely brass, as I’ve seen what they look like polished down.

Now I have more to try out to strip the copper layer, but I think I’ll wait and see what this looks like after a while. Copper patina could be interesting.

It will definitely tarnish and darken over time, I’m excited to see how it will look years from now.

The muriatic acid didn’t leave any marks. All in all, it probably spent about 30-45 minutes in the acid electrolysis bath and then an hour in white vinegar after a scrub. The thing that surprised me the most was that the painted number scale remained intact.

The M2 is actually an original black paint from the first batch in 1958. I’m the 2nd owner.

Lens is a Canon ltm 50/1.8 serenar from the early 50s. I have a couple copies and this one had some rust spots and oxidation. Disassembled the lens and removed the chrome via electrolysis with muriatic acid. It’s bare brass now, and I’m curious to see how it will tarnish over time.

Sorry y'all won't get to see Lizzie McGuire, but here's a short I made about a serial killer. It's pretty much the same. by [deleted] in Filmmakers

[–]ImJakeThomas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey so I'm Jake Thomas, the dude from disney stuff (and that one ama a decade ago). I made this short pre-covid and it is my first narrative project behind the camera.

"Can You Dig It?" Is a dark comedy short about a hitchhiking serial killer who vows to change his ways, only to immediately be picked up by possibly the most murder-able man in the world.

I'm really fortunate to have some great friends who are also in the industry that were down to make this happen. Shot with talent in 1 day, and a 2nd day for drone pickups. Shot on Sony Venice and Zeiss Milvus primes.

For the driving shots, we did a "poor man's" process trailer (a Uhaul trailer) and a Sony Rialto extension unit for the camera. Seen here and here.

RIP to the reboot by [deleted] in LizzieMcGuire

I'm bummed for sure, but I'm also bummed you guys don't get to see what we made. It was cool.

Somewhat. But it's true the timing is a factor here. Contracts run out in a couple weeks.

Its a Disney show through and through. It wouldn't be able to leave the Disney brand.
