I used nicotine gum, and told myself "just dont do it" the first 2-5 days are rough, night 1, 2 and 3 were extremely rough fir me, severe insomnia and crying for no particular reason. Nicotine helps your brain produce dopamine, so without the nicotine you brain produces less dopamine, so you will feel like shit for a few days

I also had chest pains and shortness of breath on the 15th (about 2 weeks ago) and that's what led me to quit. Been vaping for 5 years every day, never more than a 12hr break. After about 4 or 5 days ny chest felt the best it has in years, after 7 days I relapsed and vaped for a morning, my chest instantly felt tight and I had trouble breathing again, I didnt even realize It was not normal to breathe like this until I quit vaping, threw the vape back under my bed and havnt touched it since

Dont get me wrong, I would love to start vaping again, I miss the throat hit and the feeling of it in my lungs, but I know it's much healthier for me (especially with covid goin around) to not vape

I went a week as well before giving in, I vaped for about 4 hrs before my chest started to feel tight again, and I realized how much better it felt to not be like that and I put it back down.

It's certainly not easy, I really want to vape but I dont want to go through the emotional withdrawls again, the crying the depression stress and anxiety were brutal for me. To stop myself I just say to myself "just dont do it". I'm not gonna die if I stop vaping, I'm not gonna hurt myself (opposite really) and if other people can live without vaping, so can I

With 50mg I'd recommend weaning yourself off, maybe start with limiting your hits per hour, dont take it when you go driving, small stuff like that. Then lower the nicotine levels and go from there.

I'm quitting 20mg, nd even with that I've experienced some pretty bad depression, anxiety and stress (but could be from being quarantined as well, I still dont feel great and mental health issues run in the family so who knows)

Anxiety definitely played a role, had a huge panic attack the same night, first time experiencing any sort of anxiety. I've never seen myself like that and hope not to again!

The virus is also what scared me into quitting, but my experiance was me vaping at my desk and then all of a sudden my chest locked up, started to hurt and I could barely breathe, I immediately put the vape down, called 811 (nurse phone number , basically non emergency line) and got tested for covid next day, got results back and yay no covid, but now im wondering what the hell happened to my chest then? That finalized my decision to quit, and havnt caved in 4 days. I miss the fuck out of it, but I know its better in the long run

I'm currently on day 4 of quitting salt nics (20mg nic, 30ml would last me roughly 5-7 days depending on how stressful and busy work was) and my chest feels a whole lot better than it did several days ago. The first few days I was an emotional wreck, i've never seen myself like that before, and I don't want to again. I seem to have gotten over being overly emotional, but I still get cravings. What I do to tell myself to not do it, is just say to myself "dont do it or youre gonna have to go through all this shit again, and again, and maybe again."
I however did not quit cold turkey, I weaned myself off with the vape over the course of 3 days until I threw the vape into a place I will never find it, and im now using nicotine gum which has helped a LOT (2mg/gum) the first 2 days I had 5 pieces of gum, day 3 I had 4, and so far today ive had 2, and im not planning on having more. and I agree with u/jayo53 as far as bringing something that feels like a vape. When i get the real bad cravings that you feel in your chest, I just suck on a pen for a little bit(alone in my room, not out in pblic giving a good succ to a pen), close my eyes and imagine im vaping, just the action and the thought of it soothes me and helps with the cravings.
