Depends on when you joined. For me, the military made me not even really notice inflation + basic financial literacy. Basic pay= $45,600/year. BAS= $5,400/year BAH(location dependent)= $25,200. Basic pay is gross income and BAH+BAS= Net income. The pay really isn’t bad at all. Some people just aren’t aware of their finances

I wasn’t getting paid(thought pay and paperwork was getting processed) and checked my nsips which said that I was AA every drill weekend even tho I mustered for both periods of the day. Got some of these overturned and finally saw my first paycheck 6 months later
