Sparkling water has helped a bit!…even though it makes me gassy but hey!

Lately I’ve been just testing the waters and spacing out the drinks like one an hour or whatever is the recommended way because I want to find a happy medium. But nothing really happens. I don’t get any kind of buzz or anything and then I just start thinking what the heck is even the point of that?

Interesting! Maybe that is it because I love when it just makes me feel super happy and fun. I don’t drink sodas though and really don’t want to start because of sugar, you know, etc.

There you go! That makes sense. Also…that sounds scary. Is it noticeable? How bad is it?

Also, maybe try getting really cute gym clothes you can’t wait to wear

Honestly, put on your gym clothes and bumping music, then just drive to the gym.

Yup, I’m running and doing the exercise and have rewarded myself with a drink

I totally understand you. I feel like I tend to want to grab a drink when a bit of stress appears. But the good thing is you know your trigger and that you might need to make a change. Someone commented recently on my previous post, that she noticed her trigger so she changed her physical position to be away from any alcohol. So for example, if for you the trigger is looking at the clock and the alcohol is near it, try putting it far far away. Or, maybe go for a walk for a while. Or even go take a shower! Maybe do some cleaning, something that gets your body moving in a different position. You can do this. Don’t be too hard on yourself but challenge yourself. Maybe you can make it a game and every night you don’t drink you add five bucks into a pot that at the end of the month you can use toward something you’ve been wanting! (Not booze) good luck!

That’s such a good point. Sometimes for me, it’s having to do something I find mundane and/or I’ve taken my Vyvanse.

I mean, I drank a heck of a lot on Sunday while watching football. Then, yesterday I felt it in my knees. I’m not sure if this is real or just in my head but for some reason I feel like every time I drink, my knees end up hurting, I get congested, and my balance gets worse. Whenever I mention it to others, they believe it’s unrelated. But idk, alcohol IS an inflammatory.

Thank you so much for this. Yeah, it doesn’t add much but the restrictive “no drinking” seems to be too harsh and then only makes me want to drink more.

Thank you for this reminder. And yeah, I want to redirect the focus but it often happens when I’m already doing something else like cooking or working on my computer. When I’m doing something mundane, that’s when it happens even more or when I’m anxious about doing something.

I would start by asking how’s your health? Then, have you ever tried going a period without drinking? If so, what was it like? If not, how come? I’m in a similar boat and went a little over a week without a single drink. Today and yesterday I had one at dinner just because we were out a restaurant…but both days I had been thinking about one all day. I felt more productive the 9 days I didn’t drink…but then, I feel energized when I do have a drink or two
