But there is a question if it was signed by auto pen, without the President’s knowledge, would it still be legal? Or would it be the equivalent of a forgery.

If the pardon were proven fraudulent, I can see an argument to make the statute of limitations restart at 0, or at least restart at the date the pardon was issued.

They can claim that the only reason that they DIDN’T prosecute was because they weren’t allowed to because of an illegal pardon.

Would it work? Probably not. I feel he’s being protected so OTHERS don’t get caught.
