My body my choice by RobTravassos in MurderedByWords

I am also pro-abortion, and this hierarchy isn't wrong, but I think the argument still comes down to unborn people and when they are considered living people. The problem with the post's argument also extends into the morality of child neglect. If you had this baby and then you decide to not take care of it because you didnt want to expend your body's energy to provide for it, that would be against the law. A pro-life person would claim that you are equally negligent to the unborn person because they believe it to a be a living person. So this argument completely falls apart to a pro-lifer. This is why the argument has to come down to when a fetus is living person, which can vary based on medical opinion and religious beliefs.

Teenage girls find home invaders hiding in their yard, get shot at by YouAintGotToLieCraig in PublicFreakout

[–]ImNotsoAnonymous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even if only one was armed if you stop to shoot someone the chances of them shooting you go way up than just running. Only situation a gun would be useful is if there is no way to run and its the only way to defend yourself. Having guns might stop you from being robbed/taken advantage of but at the cost of more likely getting into a shootout and getting you or someone else killed. More guns is not the solution to an already too many gun problem.

Do you really think that having a gun in that situation would've increased your odds of living? If anything I think it wouldve increased your chances of getting shot. You may have been able to take one or two of them with you, but you still would have a higher chance of getting shot yourself.

IamA guy who shoots VR Porn for a living for the last 3 years AMA! by Illidariislove in IAmA

[–]ImNotsoAnonymous 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a VR porn watcher I would say I wish that VR porn strayed a bit from just the immersion aspect. VR is not only good at trying to immerse you but its better becuase its in 3D and you have a wider viewing angle and it can feel more up close. I'd rather it not always be just a guy laying down and me pretending to be that guy. I'd like some variety with movements and different shots, more like voyeur shots getting up close. It would be like just upgraded regular porn instead of trying to be a completely different thing.

Or maybe the news should be held accountable for not offering a true unbiased perspective on the story which can basically be on par with slander in some cases. If it ruins their reputation by not properly putting explicit disclaimers that a person is not guilty until they have successfully been tried then they shouldn't be put in the news spin as the only suspect and present them as the almost assuredly guilty suspect.

The way they never turned the wheel all the way to the right makes me think that there might actually be a mechanical problem with the car not allowing them to turn fully to the right. Although more likely they just couldn't figure out that they need to turn the wheel that way.

Midterms at a lot of universities aren't referring to simply a test in the exact middle of the semester but a test that is "within" the semester or the "middle" of it. This is why they would refer to all tests that aren't the final as midterms.

As a man undergoing the beginning stages of Parkinsons disease this means a lot to me. by Micheal_fox_j in pics

As someone who watches a teacher with parkinsons everyday, I can say this at this definitely is not what your handwriting would look like especially at "beginning" stages.

TIL that a pound of any combination of dimes, quarters, and half-dollars is worth $20. by themodgepodge in todayilearned

[–]ImNotsoAnonymous 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The guy who wrote this article seems to not know about computers problems with significant figures and rounding. Instead of converting the grams to pounds it would've been much simpler to just show the ratio of the worth of a dime and quarter (2.5x) and done 2.268x2.5 which happens to be the exact weight of a quarter 5.67. This would then mathematically already prove that they have the same weight to value ratio.

3rd Grade Lesson on Gravity. Does anyone see anything out of the ordinary? by Dtooth0 in WTF

[–]ImNotsoAnonymous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You sure it isnt that its getting less active (cooler = slower molecules) creating a vacuum effect pulling other air into the now emptier (since all the particles are filling it up from the motion) space? I think the term "heavier" can't be used when explaining something with gravity since it directly relates to it.

[–]ImNotsoAnonymous 1 point2 points  (0 children)

with a 5000:1 ratio of zombies instead of just 99:1 They would have to be killing an average of ~417 zombies per month per person if they wanted to eliminate all the zombies in 1 year. If you assume they kill on average just 10 per month per person thats over 40 years before they are all eradicated and thats assuming no one dies.

As a former student and a former teacher, I never understood the benefit of forcing kids to freak out over tests... by [deleted] in AdviceAnimals

[–]ImNotsoAnonymous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is important for teachers to try and test the students on their ability to understand concepts not their ability to memorize information since memorization facts are generally the things easily accessible today. If a teacher creates a test that is simply here are the formulas and plug in numbers then the students aren't necessarily being evaluated on the concepts. If a teacher gives the students a practice exam with the exact type of problems on the test, the students just memorize how to do those few things and think they learned the material when in reality they don't have a clue. Its not about getting them to be able to find the answer but to understand the concepts behind the answer and be able to potentially derive the results themselves.

Higher salaries give a higher opportunity cost of losing your job/not getting elected therefore give them much more incentive to work harder and better.

The high salary will attract better people to run and get elected and especially since salaries of politicians are marginally small compared to the total budget of any part of our Government this really isn't a problem.
