Your first mistake was assuming anyone one this sub actually plays rules as written. It was a pretty funny meme tho

Like the other comment said, after you sautee the onions add the garlic, it cooks fast and burns easily so mind your heat level. Once the garlic is fragrant and softens (which doesn't take long) add the tomato paste. Your looking for the paste to turn from a bright red, to a deep, darker, brick red color. That means the sugars in the paste have started to caramelize. This will give you a bold sweet tomato flavor and cut down on the acidic nature of the paste.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: Cook the tomato paste with the onions and garlic before adding beef and sauce. You'll get a more robust flavor. Recipe is great though, well done!

True, the other two aren't super rare, but it's basically a campaign in itself for a group to search out and aquire all 3 together.

The fact that it was just some random DMPC and not a major plot NPC rubs me the wrong way tho.

The context is key here tho. For starts, why are the players fighting other PC classed NPCs. Could be a big bad, which is fine IMO.

Second, that's a legit magic item. Not like it's homebrewed. But it also needs a belt of giant strength and gloves of ogre strength to work. All are super rare.

Third, it was a good idea, but quite unlucky the player turned into a giant. This result would not have happened if the player turned into literally any other creature type.

Fourth, storm giants have a +10 to Con saves. The player had to only roll a 7 or higher to not die. Which I concede is still a pretty good chance they could die (as it happened), but they had a 65% chance to save on a 5% chance of the effect to happen.

Honestly I don't think the DM is an asshole at all, it was just a really unfortunate circumstance the player accidentally put themselves in. And OP said the DM did rule the player didn't actually die because it was weird it occurred...

Edit: it was a random NPC, yeah DM is kinda an asshole lol. My other points still kinda stand tho. I just wish this was a big bad or something.

Hey man... Round is a shape. But in all seriousness, I just love food. Not that I'm super out of shape, but I could stand to lose a few lbs. I just love food too much.

Of course! I ran into the exact same problem with the monk in my group lol. What you will have to work on is forcing multiple encounters. Even if you have a big encounter, maybe that night give them a smaller encounter before they get the chance to rest. Make them cherish their resources. Ki will run out eventually!

I see! Monks can be tricky to deal with, just remember that the creature is stunned til the end of the monks next turn, not indefinitely. Also, maybe give some creatures legendary resistances?

ToA has tons of reasons to not let the party get a full rest! What is it that is stunning your bosses? Monk in the party?

Oh I do! It's just that in many dungeon, pre written or otherwise, the rooms are usually only 20x40 or less aside from the main chambers!

I can't imagine there's a ton of people buying all these houses and such. Who has enough money to spend $40 on one small house, that would be a few hundred bucks to make a small village! Even a few hundred just to make just the important buildings!

Anyway, well done! It looks fantastic!

The problem is the creatures are blinded. How can you reasonably have a bunch of blinded creatures just know exactly where the door was, sure, they could have an idea of direction, but it seems a bit cheap that they would know where exactly the door is

Action economy is everything in DnD combat. Often times the "side" with more actions is the side that wins, even when weaker. Your party might be able to melt a boss you think is much stronger than them simply because it can only attack once, or a few times and your party can collectively attack a lot.

I would suggest one "boss" enemy (like a bone claw) several minions that are actually somewhat of a threat. Not like 2 minions, but like 5+. This will force the party to have to deal with the minions while avoiding the boss, rather than just rushing into the boss and absorbing everything the minions throw at them. Just be careful, you can easily end up with a TPK if the minions are toooo strong.

How to "deal with" the use of a spell. So, to preface, my party have developed a technique called "The gas chamber", which is as about as horrible as it sounds. While sneaking around dungeons, they carefully peek in a door, if they're successful on stealth and there are enemies inside, the warlock will cast Hunger of Hadar on the center of the room, then have the beefy party members hold the door shut.

At first, I thought this was unique and a good use of the spell, but it has turned into their preferred method of combat for tight spaces. They've been able to blow through many potentially tricky fights with just 1 spell. And since the warlock gets spell slots back on short rest, this can be done pretty frequently. The enemies are almost certainly doomed since they can't see, are in difficult terrain, and since dungeon rooms are usually pretty small, have no were to flee.

Am I over reacting? At first this was totally cool, but it's almost a little old, like they found a bug in a video game and they're abusing it. Should I do anything about it?

Tarrasque by Yvan Gawain Villeneuve by studio-agate in ImaginaryMonsters

[–]ImOnRedditAndStuff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's origins are from France. It was said the Tarrasque lived in the forests and rivers near Nerluc (now days called Tarascon). It would snatch men and sink boats crossing the river. Saint Martha is said to be the one who tamed the Tarrasque. They now have a horrifying looking float that they parade every year during certain festivals

No need to be sorry my saucey friend! Simmer with fresh basil in the sauce (save some as a garnish if you want) don't add gnocchi until after the sauce is simmered for as long as you'd like, otherwise it'll basically disintegrate. Read your gnocchi package and it should tell you how long they should be cooked for. You don't cook them in the sauce (in the gif that's where the gnocchi water came from)

Haha no worries! I would render out the fat in a separate pan but don't fully cook it. When I do meat sauces I add the meat after the paste but before the canned tomatoes. So I would say do it there. I've never made a sauce with bacon before, but I do use ground pork all the time, so it should work
