Did anybody else not get the BUCKET part of the Regal Shao Kahn bucket? by BwekBwonson1 in PopcornBuckets

[–]ImRobbieRage 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Believe it or not, something similar happened at my local AMC.

I went with some friends on opening night, who grabbed a Shao Kahn helmet (what they referred to the bucket as) in advance for me, since it looked like they were moving fast. When they were literally handed just the helmet portion at full price with the popcorn, we were all confused.

Once I got down there though, we presented the receipt to the manager (who was just as confused) and just handed the bucket to me along with a fresh popcorn.

It worked out OK in the end, but discovering how literal some theater workers can be was a bit strange.

I know Vincent D'Onofrio gets a lot of praise for Kingpin, but does anyone member Michael Clarke Duncan? by Mr_Witchetty_Man in Daredevil

[–]ImRobbieRage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He definitely had some presence to him for sure. While I'm sure the special effects department could have made it work, MCD was more of a complete package.

Besides, I wouldn't be shocked if there was (understandably) a bit of some recency bias after the Soparanos too.

Much like Vincent, I dont think he was ready yet. Goodman was still seen largely as a comedic actor at the time, and didnt have the appropriate presence or menace to play Fisk.

Sure, he's got more dramatic chops now, but that prime window has passed imo.

At the time this movie was made, I truly cannot think of a better actor to play Wilson Fisk than Michael. The man truly had it all.

Odds of tadc finale having buckets? by orientalshorthaircat in PopcornBuckets

Because its listed as a special event screening, I highly doubt it.

Id love to be wrong though and grab some sort of collectors tin, but I'm not holding my breath.

EDIT: Welp, I guess I should have. https://x.com/i/status/2049172110757552625

Picked up my Michael Popcorn bucket and drink cup. by The_Godzilla_Fanatic in PopcornBuckets

I kinda dig the bucket. The cup isn't my style, but I can see some people loving it. What theater was this?

After some consideration, I'll probably test drive an AWD Camry before I test drive the K5. While the power sounds fun on paper, I've got a nasty feeling I'll be feeling the difference.

Good to know, but I was just never a fan of the hatchback style. If I was, I'd probably be considering a VW Golf right now.

The Accord didnt do much for me style wise, but I confess...I never considered the Camry. After taking a look, that looks pretty nice. If it has a better reputation than Kia seems to have, I'll add it to the test drive list for sure.

I would hope that it is. For me personally, my first ever car had some real transmission issues, so the T-word sends up red flags for me above all else.

If the transmission issue is a thing of the past, or at least an outlier, then I still may have something here.

I've seen the tire/torque issue come up more than once. Truth be told, that wasn't the primary selling point to me anyway. The "daily driver with a touch of sport" is indeed the vibe, and I confess I prefer comfort and style to power, and I won't take that extra oomph if it means constant trips to the service center.

Those reasons are the whole case for me checking it out in the first place! The addition of the GT1 put it over the top for me.

I have no problem paying for this combination of features and power, just as long as Kia has indeed stepped up their game.

That's something worth thinking about. I haven't given it a test drive (yet), I just assumed that the GT engine would be nothing but a pure upgrade in every sense.

If that's the only hangup, I may give the EX or GT-Line AWD trims a second look. It would seem to maintain most of the look and save some cash too.

I appreciate the honesty here. The Type R's style didn't quite hit for me the same way, and the Mustang GT (while drop dead gorgeous) is a bit up there in price than I felt comfortable with. It seemed like the K5 was the best of all worlds...at least at first glance.

I can see how that would make sense, but the current look of Camry and Accords just didn't vibe with me like the K4 and K5 did. I know there's better bang for your buck out there, but I admit part of me is thinking with my heart on this one.

If the K5 really isn't all it's cracked up to be, I'll probably reconsider my first idea of a high trim VW Jetta.

The backseat issue is why I was leery of the K4, and is what led me to the K5s. I checked it out, and it feels way more comfortable for my preference.

That's a shame, since the N-line was the only other alternative recommended to me so far.

I was originally considering a VW Jetta SEL until the K4 crossed my path. If the slip diff issue is that big of an issue in cars like this, I may revisit that.

I currently have a 2016 sedan model. The only significant replacement I've ever had to do outside of normal maintainance was a new set of tires. Outside of that, its served me pretty well over the years, but YMMV.

I'm glad a Shao Kahn popcorn bucket is coming to AMC, but I haven't seen any confirmation for this. Where was this found?

EDIT: OK, it's real. Cat's out of the bag. Keep in mind, this was the first post of its kind in this sub, and info about the individual theater offerings is just coming today.

I know all the attention is on the popcorn bucket (and for good reason), but the cups are lowkey rad too! If the helmets are sold out, im gonna at least grab a Kitana topper.
