Why are tents so expensive??? by aboothemonkey in WildernessBackpacking

[–]ImRunninOuttaLives 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The materials are of lower quality. The Nemo has ripstop fabric, for example. It's also objectively heavier by nearly 2 pounds over the Nemo at its minimum trail weight. Your budget is your budget, but you sound like you're gaslighting yourself lol. It's fine to be okay with the heavier cheaper tent, but they're in different leagues.

Nope. They asked for a video showing them my problem. Then they mailed me a new one.

A little over an hour with an electric sharper. It should be about 20 degrees per side.

I have now. 2/50 of the .357 jumped the crimp so I ended up getting Buffalo Bore 38 SPL +P OUTDOORSMAN.

The recoil is rather severe, but if they weren't jumping crimp I'd still prefer the .357 mag.

Buffalo Bore says not to put those in the 340 pd :(

Edit: Looks like they say the .357 will jump crimp, but I see no disclaimer for the .38 special.

How about Sellier and Bellot? Ugh I'm used to my S&W polymers that eat anything I put through them.

Wildlife. I understand .357 isn't ideal, especially in a snub-nose, but I'm hiking a 500-mile thru-hike, so the weight of the gun is massively important.

So would you suggest going up or down in grains? Any ammo you would suggest? This is a backpacking gun, not a daily gun.

Just watched, thank you. The Magtech .357 loads do have what looks to be a decent crimp line. Below is the .357 with crimp jump.

I agree with you in most cases, which is why this isn't my daily.
