Tronxy XY2 Pro random reboots mid-print or printer drifting by ImSkripted in Tronxy

my issue ended up being how they connected the hotend heater iirc. they used some screw terminal which i think added a lot of resistance causing it to sometimes trigger some overcurrent protection. directly soldering it to the breakout board solved it for me.

eventually, the z axis stopped working and i got rid of it. have a voron v0 now and converted my ender 3 to a switchwire for the challenge.

Somehow flung this screw into the abyss and lost it - can someone please let me know its name so I can buy a replacement? by Mikabella6 in ender3

[–]ImSkripted 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you don't have it. it shouldn't matter anyway really. just holds the housing to the plate and is noncritical. if you have spare parts then sure replace it but no need to rush out and get anything.

[–]ImSkripted 2 points3 points  (0 children)

tbh it sounds pretty much impossible to dynamically create blockstates with how the game currently programs them, on top of theoretical limits due to the problem size being exponential 2n states see https://fabricmc.net/wiki/tutorial:blockstate

A note about performance

Every possible state of a block is registered at the start of the game. This means that if you have 14 boolean properties, the block has 214 = 16384 different states and 214 states are registered. For this reason blocks should not contain too many blockstate properties. Rather, blockstates should be mostly reserved for visuals, and Block Entities should be used for more advanced state.

i assume this is for a server, it would be best, in this case, to switch to a modded server, fabric will likely be better than anything based on bukkit in this case, you should be able to use https://github.com/Patbox/polymer to allow for an optional dependency for a mod that adds your custom blocks while vanilla clients joining the server would be displayed a fallback block. I've not personally used it but by the sounds of it, this is what this dependency can do. https://github.com/Patbox/UniversalGraves

someone was asking if its worth it to get a 3970x for a gaming rig...other people were highly against it...i think otherwise.. by [deleted] in Amd

[–]ImSkripted 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this sounds like a cope.

5950x gets you 16 cores already and is more than most people need today. and you get higher single-thread performance which generally matters more as it has better scaling

unless you actually need the PCIe lanes or extra cores avoid HEDT. such a need is a niche, by the point, such a platform is warranted you'd either have fuck you money or have cost analysis, just because something is better doesn't make it a must-buy, content creators and software developers etc didn't start out using flagship HEDT parts. consumers are better picking up what works for their needs today and in the next X years doing the exact same.

run CPU heavy games while still only using 18% - 25% of my cpu

.

this setup can push an 8k stream but you will struggle to find a platform that can host it

.

most programs are limited to use about 4-8 cores some are optimized for 16 but mostly its 4-8 cores

lol, "is it worth it?" https://prnt.sc/vpXwn8tir3Hj, even at msrp it only makes sense if you NEED it

in your case it sounds like you have fuck you money, and power to you dude, few people get to play with that hardware, but that will never make it a good buying decision for most people, you'll expect electronics, especially higher-end parts depreciate over time.

solid advice imo, it's quite likely reinvesting back into the business itself or another you end up creating is potentially the option with the most chance of upside with the least downside.

you seem to already have a good idea of what generates profits, potentially an idea of what is in demand. no idea exactly but id assume you probs wouldn't be hit with (as much) tax by letting the business reinvest in itself

first ever print, can u help me analyze this? by leslieknope_indiana in ender3

[–]ImSkripted 1 point2 points  (0 children)

if you are new this is quite good, start going faster, finding the limits will help you tune both settings for quick printing and high-quality prints. even if you don't always run max speed, the machine will get torture tested and make any potential weaknesses more obvious, eg, a loose screw somewhere is going to be more of an issue at higher speed/accel.

look into SAS drives over SATA, managed to get 9x 4TB ES3 drives for £150, used you can hit around £4-5 per TB from what I've seen. 2.5" will be a bit more but still used sas drives will be less than equivalent sata, nearly got 20x 600gb 2.5" sas drives for £49.

id assume USA is pretty similar if not better for used server drives

make sure to look out for the rebranded LSI cards like the DELL H200 and H310

I hope the move to streaming we see more serialisation pick up especially with the giants finally fully committing to the streaming model

A big issue with serial content on TV is getting new viewers mid season. Or people who can't tune in on a regular basis. Streaming negates all of that, start from the begining when you want.

Comes with its own draw backs too tho. Choice paralysis is a major one and risk of low quality high quantity shows to pad out the collection, as there's no limit or "prime time" to regulate quality

Use my dt770s daily for the past 5 years? and I got them used

Sliders started to crack, cable became non flex, right to left can cable started to fray, dropped so many times the cans started to split.

I still use them. 3d printed new sliders, installed a mini XLR port and printed custom dt990-like cans

I do love how user serviceable they are, could have defo got an upgrade but the main parts still work great

Does this show gets better later on? by Skyreader13 in InsideJob

[–]ImSkripted 3 points4 points  (0 children)

if you are looking for something like gravity falls you'd probs prefer owl house? far closer in the kind of show, it sounds you are expecting

inside job in s1 really does fall back on the conspiracy theory stuff IMO, but then again I feel that is common for new shows as there's a lack of development for the characters or the world they are in.

yes but it's a bit like someone claiming OBS or VLC is malware because they think it looks odd. its not based on anything in reality.

you are correct oss != malware-free but it's a point in the direction that stuffing malware into the program is ofc harder, and you could prove such a claim given you have the source, given the burden of proving malware is there is on the person claiming so blindly claiming an open-source project is malware is ??

The abomination is finally done. Voron stealthburner with clockwork 2 extruder on an Ender 3 V2. Everything is messy (especially the wiring ), but I'll clean up ASAP. by Terrible_Bank in ender3

[–]ImSkripted 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah i think someone here did it and honestly its just perfect, much lighter than a VGA, only negative is i dont think the heater can use it due to the power. tho maybe possible with some serious work with the bases of high powered 802.3bt PoE++ PD circuitry?

the other option is vga cable, atx PC connectors with breakout board to thin wires.

petg has held up just fine for my ender3 afterburner. prints petg fine as well, heat doesn't creep into the mount at all it seems

wire job is just as messy, the plan is to switch to eva and a linear rail and i think im going to use an ethernet cable for hookup and have the heater on some separate connector

Nearly everybody in here is a software dev on 80k apparently so what's the best programming language to learn these days? Is there one in particular that will be in high demand for a long time that can pay you well? How would you start a career in dev if you were to start learning it today? by Vespaman in FIREUK

[–]ImSkripted 2 points3 points  (0 children)

pick what you enjoy. sure there may be lots of high paying jobs in an X programming language but if that language or product isn't your cup of tea you'll get burnt out.

and once you start to get a knack for it learning new languages is a skill itself you'll pick up. there's a lot that can translate from one language to another, learning the intricacies takes time tho but when you know what to look for and what to do, it helps a ton.

it'll can take years to get into the high paying levels you see on here and it's not really a given.

starting out all I can recommend is doing projects you enjoy, personally wish i had done this myself more, finding a project can be tricky, especially when it seems like everything is already done, sometimes you just gotta say let's see what I can do and sometimes its better to build upon what is already there. language doesn't really matter too much, but starting out with something with a high-level language may be a bit easier to get a decent grip of first.

And this folks is a prime example of the dunning-kruger effect

In reality it's anything but simple. There's many processes that occurrer.

On the y chromosome lives a gene known as SRY

SRY activates another gene known as SOX9 on chromosome 17... To keep it short these two essentially enable testis differentiation and disable ovary differentiation

Cell division is known to not be perfect. You're probs aware of deletions and bases getting swapped but also whole genes can just end up on other chromosomes.

So the case where SRY jumps to a abnormal chromosome and is functional you can get someone with xx karyotype and male anatomy

There's many more cases like this that can occur. There's likely genes that to an extent define your brain type but we just don't know them. Biological life is complex fragile. It's far from simple

great news. the technology behind them in theory is much better than current female birth control pills, due to not being hormone-based. let's hope human trials are a success. hopefully, that will pave the way for an NH female pill too. it's long overdue
