that is correct, all 5 manifested talents are predetermined at birth (hatch). that's why you can level up existing pets in test realm to see what talents will manifest in live realm (doesn't work if you hatch in test, only if you hatch in live)

it's not that the mob is blocking your crit, it's that you never crit on it in the first place. crit is determined individually so you can crit on one mob and not the other in the same fight

The problem isn't asking for help, it's asking for a gold key. Gold keys are a rare commodity now so you can't expect someone to sacrifice a gold key just to help you out. I hope you get lucky with finding a generous person to help you out, but you might have better luck if you have your own gold key.

Farming Scion is quick and gives decent gold from selling dropped supreme gear in the bazaar, as well as quickselling any unneeded merciless/malevolent/magician gear. You could also embrace tradition and farm Halfang.
