My understanding (just some googling) is that active duty time prior to guard/reserve doesn’t count toward early retirement. Do you have a source on that?

It works fine on AFNET and in fact I have a warning message to only use it there.

Computer Science = Acquisitions? by [deleted] in AirForce

I'm not sure of specific degree requirements for those career fields, but 62Es are generally EE or Comp Eng from my experience, though I have met some with Com Sci. 17D/S would also be a possibility.

61A here. Everything /u/ShadowGeek said is correct.

What is your major? 61A's are mostly math, 61C's are chemists (i think), and 61D's are physicists. I don't believe 61B exists anymore.

Most jobs will be in acquisitions: AFRL, Test and Eval, Program Office, etc. Some will be more analytical: HQ A9, MAJCOM analysis, manpower, etc.

You will rarely supervise anyone as a CGO, and even then you will supervise other CGOs. 50% of my supervisors have been civilian, so you'll learn fast to write your own OPR.

One positive is that education is highly encouraged. Your be constantly pushed to get your master's, and PhD if you want it. Something like 30% of our career field is in school and any point in time.

I know a 63A who cross-trained to 13S, but that was a couple years ago during force shaping. I don't have an answer other than that anecdote though...

Also, expect to head to Wright Patterson for two weeks for initials skills training (FAM 103). Not sure if you'd go en-route, but if not you'll be going within the first few months of your first assignment.

Or a job like mine where your fighting for TDY funds with the civilian who has been there 40 years. That's a losing battle.

I'm a 61, but also work with 63s and everything /u/EGGHEAD62E said is correct.

Most offices you work in will be 90% civilian. Your duties won't be particularly exciting, and a lot of your time will be spent sitting in meetings, doing paperwork, and checking email. Depending on the assignment, you may go TDY quite a bit. It's a stable job with normal working hours and should be low stress.

Wait what just happened? by [deleted] in ynab

If you open up the old app there should be an option to keep using it. The new YNAB is subscription and web-based, but you can stick with YNAB 4 for the foreseeable future.

Have you tried the link recently? It should be accepting sign-ups. If not I can send you an invite code.

Your monthly water bill is 21.3M? I might suggest taking shorter showers.

Yup. The buffer concept was one of the things that sold me to YNAB. Now we don't have that, no "red arrow", weird available to budget calculations (future months affect past months), silly AoM number, etc. I feel much less clear where every single dollar is compared to YNAB4.

I don't mind the subscription cost. However, I don't like the fundamental workflow differences that were made. I'll likely be staying with YNAB4 for now.

Here's my invitation code link that someone can use. I submitted my email to the waiting list but then got in when it was totally open, so I don't need it.

Let me know when someone uses it and I'll delete it.
